hi, got a few questions:
1. to get an item to appear in the bar i add it to the main menu, however this makes it appear twice (once on left column and once in bar) – how do i get the item to only appear in the bar?
2. i hid the “home” link on purpose as i have it available as a mini-icon – but it means when users goto http://seek.cc/, they will arrive at the book page. how can i change the config so that the “home” frontpage (ie. http://seek.cc//home/) is displayed?
any help much appreciated.
thanks!

fcuk112.Hi mate, I wont use the obvious rearrangement of a swear word to address you
Sounds like you are very new to Joomla? The left menu is called the ‘main menu’ in the admin backend you add or delete menu items there and use publish or unpublish to turn on or off link /button, the same applies to the TOP menu ( top nav bar)
So answer to question 1. open menu manager main menu from list unpublish whatever links you don’t need to display in side menu
question 2. add home link to both top and side menu don’t rely on users to use cute icons most are used and institutionalized to use left menus, also the actual page is the ‘Home page ‘ but without the home button the breadcrumb trail displays the first available name.
I hope this makes sense to you
Cheers ShannonNApril 18, 2007 at 11:13 am #218325sorry i am a bit new at this. as i see it there are 3 relevant areas; 1.main menu (lhs), 2.main nav bar (not sure what it’s called – the bar that runs across in the middle) and 3.top bar (for cute icons). my issue is that when i add items to 1, it also gets added to 2.
i take your point on the home link but would like to be able to turn off other links in (1) but still displaying them in (2).
thanks!
fcuk112.April 19, 2007 at 11:20 am #218434seems it is possible in the demo template to hide links in the left-menu but still have them displayed in the main nav bar. how is this done?
thanks.

April 19, 2007 at 11:32 am #218437Hi fcuk,
You just have to unpublish the mainmenu module in the backend of your site. In this case the left menu dissappear and only the top-menu stays.
It is possible to show both with different content. Then you have to add a new menutype in the backend and put in there the options you want to see on top of the page. After this you have to connect this new menu to the top in the index.php.
Kind Regards,
Peter -
