Can somebody help me?

I installed the 1.5x files and running a fresh joomla without any changes (i haven’t built the website). Why is menu going like that?

You need to unpublish a few menu items and the problem should be gone.

But then, if I add more menu items, won’t that cause the trouble again?

It will, the way the top menu there is designed does not allow you to use many items in the top menu, then you need to use a drop down menu.
