Hello,
I was wondering if any of you have been able to get rid of the “written by” funtion only on the front page…. I need to keep the author sorting capability on internal sections, but would like to get rid of it on the front page of the site…
Any ideas?
Thanks!!swemmel Friendswemmel

March 1, 2007 at 9:50 pm #215131This is standard Joomla-functionality. When you edit the stories of your frontpage on the right side you see 5 tabs: “Publishing”, “Images”, “Parameters” . “Meta Info” and “Link to menu”.
Under the tab “Parameters” there is a parameter called: Author Names. You can choose between:
– use global (it will take the parameter you made for the entire website)
– hide (it will hide the name of the author on the story you work on)
– show (it will show the name of the author on the story you work on)When you make this parameter for the stories on the frontpage you will not see it. The only thing is when they are going off your frontpage and into internal sections you have to put back this parameter if you want to show the author.

March 1, 2007 at 10:12 pm #215132Hi Peter,
Thanks for your response, but changing the “Parameters” only changes the internal page… when I put hide the written by does disappear on the actual page.. but still shows on the front page… Take a look at what I mean… http://fiscalreform.hzdesign.com/ any of the links show the written by administrator but when you click on them they don’t show it anymore…(hence the hide parameter is being used).
Let me know if you have any other suggestions. Thanks!
Cynthia

March 2, 2007 at 3:51 am #215149Hi cyncan,
Just go to Menu–>mainmenu. Click on the Home item (the link to your Frontpage). On the right side (Parameter panel), find Author Names. You can see the options to hide or show the “Written by…” there.
If you want to totally hide the “Written by…” on all the page, go to Site–>Global Configurations, choose the Content tab, you can find the Author Names options. 😉
