    Hi there,

I use the JA Minisite at http://www.feuerwehr-wachtberg.de/ On the startpage I use the JA Slideshow module only on the startpage and I assigned several article categories to this module. But not all articles have the same behaviour by clicking on the “Read more” button.

Some categories will be displayed in the startpage layout with the JA Slideshow Module, one category will be displayed correct in the layout without the slideshow module.

I have the following categories and assigned the bold one:

    Aktuelles
    Einsätze
    Einsätze 2012
    – Einsätze 2011
    – …

All articles in the category “Aktuelles” will be displayed wrong, the articles in “Einsätze 2012” (articles start with “EB 12-XXX”) will be displayed correct. The settings of all categories are the same. Only the setting of the menu entries are different.

The “Aktuelles” menu entry displays only the featured articles of several categories. The “Einsätze 2012” menu entry is a category blog. Unfortunately there is no possibility in Joomla to display a category blog of several categories. It is only possible to display one category when I choose the category blog.

Are the settings wrong or is there a bug in the slideshow module? I use the last version 2.5.4 of the module and Joomla 2.5.4.

    Thanks for your tipps.

    Best regards.
    Michael

    Hello Michael,

Can you send PM to me with your site information (your site URL, your site admin account) and your FTP account? So I can diagnose this problem.

BTW, please include this forum thread URL in your PM, so I can follow it.

    Best regards.

Does no one has an idea what I make wrong or if there is a bug in the module?
@stork11: Did you have a chance to diagnose the problem?

    Best regards

    Hello noffy,

Your “Aktuelles” menu item is “Featured Articles” menu type. It contains 2 categories “Aktuelles” and “Einsätze”, and Joomla doesn’t know which menu will be get for an article.

You should change menu type of “Aktuelles” menu item to “Category Blog” of “Aktuelles” category like “Einsätze” menu item configuration.

    Best regards.

    Hello Stork,

thanks for your response. I know what you mean and I tried it so i had the same effect you described.
The menu “Aktuelles” contains several categories. With this menu I will show articles from the main category and from the news-category of the fire brigades.

Maybe it is an feature request for the Slideshow module, that the behaviour from the Featured Articles type will be shown like the Category Blog. I cannot see differences in the display of these types. Only that the Featured Article type has the possibility to show articles from several categories. This is not possible with the Category Blog. An old feature request for joomla.

Maybe there is a module / extension for Joomla with the same behaviour of the Category Blog but the possibilty to show articles from several categories.

    Thanks and best regards.

    Hello noffy,

It’s a Joomla feature. It’ll be automatically linked to a menu item if it exists on your site.

You can try to create a “Category Blog” menu of “Aktuelles” category in a menu group which isn’t shown on your site (e.g. create a “temp” menu group, then create “Category Blog” menu). Then you can set to show or hide modules on this new menu item like “Einsätze”.

    Regards.
