    Can you check in the configuration.php file what is set under:

    $mosConfig_live_site
    if it is http or https?

    this may be accounting for your site issues, your configuration file was not written to when you created your site

    you should have
    $mosConfig_live_site = ‘http://yoursite.com’;
    in your configuration file

    and, are you on a cheap hosting solution, many of them do not meet the requierments for joomla
