Depends whereabouts in the world you are….here in the UK it’s only 5:15pm on the 28th and if they are working to GMT then they haven’t missed the deadline yet 🙂

    Cheers,

    Khanh Le and Hung Dinh,

Good work. I am just looking at the demo of the new packages. I like what I have seen so far. I would not be able to use them all, but there are specific features (modules) in the ones that were posted above already. I believe some of them may be provided as modules and then adopted to other templates. This would be the modular approach that I am trying to propose. What would be needed would be some sort of a more detailed tutorial to help “newbies” or non-Geeks, like me, to learn how to use them properly.

I am looking at the JA Avian “slideshow” module for example. And, it is quite promising, especially if it may be improved further or modified to serve for example, as “featured” news headline, ie., with some captions, then it will click to a story page.

    TeeTide,

I think they are on schedule, California time. They have done 8 out of 15 already. They have 15 hours more to meet their first set of deadlines. JA Teline was slated for Jan 29-Feb8. If they come up with it today or the next few days they will be well ahead of their schedule.

So, relax a bit. Give them some leeway. As much as I wanted the JA Teline as soon as possible, I would feel more comfortable if they double check everything before releasing it. I had trouble troubleshooting my first installation of the JA Teline QuickStart kit last time because there were some bugs. That was quite frustrating. It took me a week to solve it.

This time, what they come up with is a Beta version. The Beta version is not intended for what is shown to the public usually. If there are problems that may arise from the Beta version, it is possible that some issues may be not a template issue but more the Joomla 1.5 itself.

Please note that all first releases will be in Beta versions so that we can monitor bugs from members and then update into the official releases. Also we continue to update the template along with the updates of Joomla 1.5.x</blockquote>

I’m not trying to be rude here, but many of us plan around your shaky promises. It really chaps my rear for you to make promises, me to plan around those promises, and have you fail to deliver on those promises. I happen to have someone standing by RIGHT NOW to do some work on Teline 1.5 based on your promise to have the template available on the 29th.

    Hi TeeTide,
Please read carefully before posting. JA Teline is promised to delivered from 29th Jan – 5th Feb 08, not on 29th.
We are here all try our best to be nice to you so kindly “relax a bit”, TeeTide

Anyway, we have almost completed the Teline, the beta (for testing) demo is belows if you want to have a look

My apologies. The mistake was mine. We have a Teline site going live on Thursday and these are very stressful times indeed.

    Thanks for your efforts.

    Hi Hung Dinh,

Take your time. Indeed, I would prefer one without bugs, if possible. I wasted almost a week when I first started, finding the cause of the problems. From my experience, here were some issues I had with the 1.0.x version

    1. The “.htaccess” in the root directory should be removed.
    2. The procedure should just indicate to convert htaccess.txt to .htacess, immediately after the installation, and especially before the SEO default is changed.

    3. There were quite a few errors in the file names, of files in the subdirectories of the com_menus
    4. administrator => components => com_menus =>

      • weblink_category_table
      • component_item_link
      • newsfeed_category_table
      • content_archive_section
      • content_blog_category
      • contact_category_table
      • content_archive_category
      • content_blog_section

One the above are corrected, it would take just a few minutes to install, using the “Easy Install” procedure by Joomla.

From what I read in the forums, the above were the cause of a number of the problems posted.

YES!! TAKE YOUR TIME! The demo is riddled with problems right now. The RSS is currently not working and when it does it should include the Headline Module and all Categories. None of the pictures are where they are supposed to be. When you click on a category headline it turns white and disappears just to name a few. Take your time and get it right.

Yes take your time, also as the site is crawling due to everyone looking etc can you PLEASE provide the j1.5 updated templates as 1 big zip file for download, its a pain in the butt at these slow update times to have to go through three very slow loading pages in the dl section to dl the template each time you want a template !!! or upload to a mirror site?

I’d rather dl in bulk and separate into folders etc then please

I would like to suggest that there be a new thread started to announce when all the individual templates come out from this Beta phase. Also, I think you should put a note on the Downloads Page that the current Joomla 1.5 Templates are in Beta.

    Guys and Gals,

I think it is really counterproductive to be putting more pressure on the staff to rush things. If you look at the preliminary JA Teline link, for example, there are so many things that needed to be done before it is ready.

We all should be happy — even if we are anxious to get our favorite templates soon — just imagine how many irate customers if the staff release buggy templates. I bet you would be spending more time trying to find out what was wrong.

Personally, I would prefer a working template. I have more things to do now anyway.

Spend time creating content for your website. Your visitors will notice that more than the transition from 1.0.x and 1.5. Don’t forget, it is still a Beta that will come out. You will be making a mistake if you use the Beta immediately for your existing website.
