This is a problem across all JA templates, not just this one.
In my opinion the standard of documentation is not good enough for the templates, and for professional templates like this and at this price I would expect a little more.
Most annyoing of all is that fact the module positions shown here do not correspond to the module positions actually used in the template. The module positions in the User Guide found on these forums are themselves different from the ones in the link above.
This means I end up wasting time every single time I have a new module to place. In addition there is no comprehensive listing of available module suffixes for each module position. This again makes the process of customising a template tedious and disorganised.
Could I recommend that JA adopts a similar approach to Rockettheme.com and provide extensive documentation of Template-specific variables? It would save people like me a lot of time and patience.

August 10, 2009 at 11:44 am #313715Hi, if you want to see on any template what the actual positions are add ?tp=1 to the end of the URL like…
http://template15.joomlart.com/ja_sulfur/?tp=1
I agree with what you are saying though. Better docs would lead to fewer questions in the forum.

That’s very interesting. I had no idea about that.
I still think the documentation side of things needs a re-think, particularly with module suffixes. All they need to do is an article in the demo page with a list of suffixes.
Thanks for the reply, that’s a good trick to know.

August 13, 2009 at 1:01 pm #314100Would it be possible to get some feedback from JA Staff regarding the state of the documentation?
If there was a comprehensive list of module positions, available suffixes and other template-specific variables with each release package it would save everyone a lot of time.
And I’m sure JA would spend less time on this forum answering stupid questions that shouldn’t need to be asked in the first place! 90% of the problems I’ve had using JA Templates have been because the documentation on the forum / sales page is completely wrong or missing.
Thoughts?

Guy’s I would have to agree – most of my post this week have been down to not knowing the module positions and the class suffix.Could we get this resolved please.

September 4, 2009 at 5:38 pm #316387The worst thing is we pay good money for these templates and -alongside the problems with the templates- the customer service is very poor.
I will certainly not be renewing my membership with JoomlaArt, I’ve already found alternative providers who actually bother to write documentation and actually respond to customer complaints or suggestions. My only regret is that I got a Developer Membership.
Can I get a refund? I’m not a happy customer.
