June 6, 2009 at 4:48 pm #307166Check out this list of RSS tickers at Joomla.org
There’s a handful that are horizontal.

Maybe I don’t understand what you want to do, but as far as I can tell, both of those extensions are horizontal rss tickers.treybraid Friendtreybraid

June 7, 2009 at 1:03 am #307198both of those pull in info from articles…sections and category’s… i am doing a hockey website and would like to incorporate a ticker across the top ( 650px / 30px ) pulling in an rss feed from hockey news on espn if that make’s sense…
i can do it in flash — would rather use a joomla mod for this though…

June 7, 2009 at 1:19 am #307199Hey Trey…
Cool..a hockey site. That’s what I’m building as well. You can see what I have so far developed…hope to have it done in 3 weeks to go live on June 26th.
I got media access to the NHL Entry Draft in Montreal, so the plan is to launch right as the draft starts and go from there.
We’ve set up an affiliation with a major sports network here in Canada, and are now adding writers to our staff. Still looking for bloggers to cover the OHL, QMJHL, US college hockey, and Europe.
The *temporary* dev url is http://www.sypfantasyhockey.com
The actual url (http://www.schoolyourpool.com) which still hosts our current site, will be switched over on June 26, and the old site will no longer exist. What’s yours? I’d be interested in hearing more. Maybe we could help each other out 🙂
Cheers,
-Ray
P.S. As for tickers…I’ve been looking for the same thing to pull headlines from the network we have an affiliation with. I’ve been looking into writing my own module or plugin to do it. I never thought about doing it in flash. Ultimately, I doubt I’ll have the time to write my own. I may project it out on joomlancers. Maybe if you’re interested we could split the cost.treybraid Friendtreybraid

June 7, 2009 at 1:51 am #307200:Ddamn small world my friend… right now it is on a localinstall on my laptop while i build it out…. i am hoping to be able to get it up in a couple of weeks as well… i went ahead and created a horizontal rss feed in flash real quick….
nice site by the way!!!!
i thought about putting together a site for all the minor league’s in the us— was going to pull feeds from all the league site’s a couple of other’s… here is my email address:
……..email me and i will reply with a screenshot of what ive done so far–only been a couple of day’s… using the ja_barite template which i have already editted very heavily adding a ton of new mod position’s…i will also replay and send you the flash file i created along with a couple of flash components to create it in a snap…
maybe its because it is so late—any idea why an rss feed wouldnt work on a joomla local install – it works when i preview it in flash itself… i installed a flash module to bring in the flash file… what would you use if you were using a flash object…

June 7, 2009 at 2:39 am #307203To be honest Trey, I don’t know what I would use for flash, I haven’t given it much thought.
I’m more inclined to take an existing Joomla ticker module and attempt to modify it or else try my luck at creating my own extension. I’m sure we aren’t the first people to look for one.
I’ll shoot you an email.
Cheers,
-Ray -
