August 6, 2009 at 9:41 pm #313555Hi there,
When you browse to the site XXXXX you will see ‘Restricted access’ on the page. This is most likely coming from the code found in the index.php file: defined( ‘_JEXEC’ ) or die( ‘Restricted access’ )
The problem is, I don’t have a clue how to fix this problem.
I’m going to send you the ftp and password info via private message.
Thank you for getting back to me so quickly!

August 6, 2009 at 10:52 pm #313565It looks like you may have overwritten your default index.php file?

August 6, 2009 at 11:22 pm #313568I thought so but the problem was not fixed when I copied over the index.php in the on-line files with one I got from the original template file.
So now I presume the on-line index.php is the same as the one in the template but the problem continues.

August 8, 2009 at 3:09 am #313632I just found this code language in my index.php file that says:
// no direct access
defined( ‘_JEXEC’ ) or die( ‘Restricted access’ );include_once (dirname(__FILE__).DS.’ja_vars_1.5.php’);
?>
This sure looks like the source of my problems!!! Do I just delete this code?
I guess we will see… 😉
ETA: Nope. It didn’t work. I’ve tried looking at the index.php files for other joomla websites that I have built, but I haven’t found the magic words to fix my problem. You’d think the codes from the original template would fix it but it hasn’t. So now I’m thinking the files I have saved as “original” template files must have been altered somehow. I copied this language from another joomla site that I built and manage.
// Set flag that this is a parent file
define( ‘_VALID_MOS’, 1 );No big surprise it didn’t work. But at least the message changed so I think I’m on the right track.
I could really use a hand here….
