did someone know why this <blockquote>dropped Support of extrafields search by Keyword</blockquote> was done?

somehow between update 1.1.2 and 1.1.3 this was happened :((

hope that we get this back, it should be no big thing, at least for frontend

inside this function:

private function _parseTerm($term) {


extend “default and inall” arrays with:

, 'i.extra_fields_search'

maybe a little more complicated would be to add it as option inside “JA K2 Filter Configuration” “Search In”

but i am sure that this could be solved too

I think programmer didnt need any additional info or code to understand and solve the problem (else just ask)

Hello,

Thank you for your reporting.

Yes, we have removed “extra_fields_search” field from the list of check fields if search by keyword. Since JA K2 filter supports to search in each extra fields, so we think that do not need to check on that field.

If you want to get it back, we will add this field as an option of “Search in” setting for upcoming version of JA K2 filter.

Yes, I wish to search through all extrafields with keyword as option.

I understand, that you may think there is no need for that,
but this can only be when you only had to search inside a single extrafield.
Because if you have about 3-10 fields for example then you dont wish to add 3-10 input boxes
(specially when the visitor didnt know which field he need to fill out for his search)

for example:
you have a site about movies and you add main actors inside single extrafields, and supporting actor inside single extrafields.
than if visitor know the actor of a movie he should be able to search for him with one field, specially there where the line between main and supporting actor is small.

p.s.
I am still very interested in this feature: relevance based ordering of search results

We have just released a new version of JA K2 Filter (version 1.1.6) that support sort search result by relevance.

Sorry for no reply that long time, was realy busy, and had no time to test it till now,
but i am happy with the result.

I just wish to say thanks for:

• bring back extrafields search by Keyword
• sort search result by relevance.

to top the result that i had now, would only be possible if i could define:
a relevance vaule for each extrafield and not only for the values that came from extrafields
