March 21, 2012 at 10:24 pm #175266Does JA Tiris with JoomShopping support dual languages? I need to add a second language to the website and I’m not sure if JA Tiris and JoomShopping can support this seamlessly?
I assume I’ll need to recreate the website pages in the second language, include some sort of user-selectable language icons on the front end that will allow the website to switch between the two languages (pages). Or, is there a simpler way?

http://tiny.cc/ixkjbw – dual language shop (marketing out of the way now)…..;)
It’s fairly standard stuff to be honest. Set up a dual Joomla site – if you need help there I can dig out the link for a great video. Takes a minute or two to get your head round but if I can do it anyone can! :p
You can get a language pack from Joomshopping – just to remember that you have to install that one via the JS component not via extension manager. Then you input descriptions etc in as many languages as you like in the admin of JS.
You will find problems with the mega menü and joomshopping but nothing you can’t easily overcome – happy to walk you through them.

June 10, 2012 at 12:20 pm #456832Hello,
therefore I’ve got a question:I’ve installed two different languages on my “JA Tiris”-Installation and it works. But I can not find a way, to make it work in connection with the Menu above the JA Slider Modul (I hope you can understand what I mean – the “normal” menu of the template on top of the page under the “call to fee”-Modul.
In the backend // Templates -> JA_Tiris default -> Profiles -> Here you can find the option “Menu Type”: Here is my problem. I can only chose one menu (language A oder Language B menu). I need some configurationtools to say “If language A, then show here language-A-Menu, but if language B, show language-B-Menu”.
It would be very nice, if you can help me!
Tanks a lot.swissa Friendswissa

You say you have 2 languages installed so therefore I take it that you have three in fact (inc default) and that you have language menüs for each? Like so…..
If that is correct then you use page assignments in the back-end.
See both the profiles for each language (you can make these easily just by clicking on “add”)
and then on the left you choose the pages for the language….
That should show each language menü automatically for each language chosen by the user.
You will find some problems in JoomShopping I think as this is a single component. You have to fake some menü items in one of the language menüs using external urls that link back to the specific language. If you need help just shout.
Good luck!

June 10, 2012 at 1:38 pm #456835hey guy,
you made my day – nearly 😉#1
3 different menus:
default
German
Englischcheck
#2
with your help, created next to the “default”-Profile a “German” and a “English”-Profilecheck
#3
chosen english menu-pages for the english-profile and german for…check
finally, i’ve chosen in the “default”-Profile the menu-type “German”.
Thereby, if i’ve chosen german language in the frontend, i can see the German-menu, but if i chose english, the menu-bar dissapears and .. yea.. it is lost :-[I hope you can understand my problem and can give me an answer. Thank you for your fast reply!!

Did you for the english profil pick the englisch menü? See my images again just to check that each profil uses a different menü.
Can you post up a url please so that I can see? Merci!

June 10, 2012 at 2:01 pm #456837Yes, for german i have picked the “Hauptmenue”-Home and for english the “Mainmenu”-Home.
Could the menu-type i’ve chosen for the default-profil be wrong?Otherwise, here some screens for you 🙂
Thanks a lot!

Can you post screenshots of the english and german profiles too – because there is where you may not have picked the right menüs. If you have then check that all the menü items in each language are assigned only to that language – if that makes sense!! 🙂

July 9, 2012 at 4:05 pm #460366hey guy,
after a long break, I returned to my ecommerce-project.I’ve set up the language switcher and it works – sometimes… Some functions wont work, I hope you can help me:
– I’ve configured two menus (German, English – with your help (see post-history)) and I can see the menu-bar on the german-home and the english-home. NOW, the problem: Using the german navigation, whether on what page I am (chosen german language), i can see the menu bar (home, impress, contact etc.) but if I switch to english, the menu-bar is only show on the “home”-side, on other menupoints like “contact” etc. the menu dissapears? What do i have to do to fix that?– you wrote, that I should shout if I have problems with joomshopping : 😮
The following direction works: website.de/de/shop/kategorien if you open now a category, it directs to website.de/de/startseite/kategorie :-[ what is wrong, that it doesnt directs to website.de/de/shop/kategorien/kategorie1I hope you can understand my silly english and you can help me again – thank you very much!

Hoi! Guete abig!
So, menüs first. From the images above on page assignments you can try to just leave the language to the profile. Don’t click the menüs. That way ALL menü points with English as default language should show on the English menü. Make sure that English is also a copy of the default menü. Make sure the menü items themselves are picked for language English and not set to “ALL”.
If this doesn’t work please post images of the profiles for both languages.
Next, make sure you take an akeeba backup first. z.B. SOFORT! JETZT! 😉
JoomShopping.
Have you set in Global Config (Joomla) that it is set to search engine friendly and that you are using .htaccess and not httaccess.txt in the root ordner?
JS can be hard sometimes I know. So I asked you to do a backup (an copy it down to your pc too – from administrator/components/akeeba/backups) so that we can update JS. Are you still on 3.4.2? If you update it, you have to do it via JS install tab and you have to do it in steps.
3.4.2-3.5, 3.5-3.5.1, 3.5.1-3.6, 3.6-3.6.1, 3.6.1-3.7, 3.7 -3.7.1, 3.7.1-3.7.2.
I think that will solve your problem. Hoffentlich! Schauen wir mal!

July 9, 2012 at 7:43 pm #460387hey, here some imagestuff about the german and english profile
Furthermore, the JS Update process is a bad joke?! My version is 3.5 – do it understand it in the right way, that i have to update 3.5 to 3.5.1, than 3.5.1 to 3.6 ?! And you cannot update from 3.5 to 3.7.2 in one way?
Do you promise, that all my problems will be fixed updating this long silly way?
I’ll backup my system tomorrow with akeeba (thanks a lot for this plugin!) and try to update. Perhaps you will have answered my questions until tomorrow in case that i missunderstand something 😉
Thanks a lot und gute Nacht in die Schweiz! 😉
// EDIT (5mins later 😉 ): Okay, the menu problem is solved – i’ve checked the page asignments, they werent checked correctly.
PS: I use SEO friendly URLs and mod rewrite (refering to the JS linking problem)

July 10, 2012 at 1:33 pm #460473Hey Mr. Swissa 🙂
thank you – after this stupid updating process it works and is fixed by itself! – but the language switch makes problem if I’ll use it in a deeper level than /shop/categories/ .
Beeing on /de/shop/kategorien/kategorie_eins it only switches to /en/shop/categories/. If it will be to freaky to fix that, I will be pleased if the last level you can decide for the language is categories.Another questinon (i’ll take advantage on you as a joomla profi :-* ): I’ve got a ‘JATC Standard Membership – 1 year’. May I delete the JA_Tiris logo in the footer? Or the whole footer? (Designed by Joomlart etc.)
THANK YOU GUY (Wie ist das Wetter in der Schweiz? Hier in Köln ist es schein scheiß Sommer! )

You have to pick the category in the menü item manager – you insert the number of the kategorie given by joomshopping.
Switching languages between products does give errors. This is a problem because the megamenü doesn’t work well with multi-language within a component – if you follow what I mean. It doesn’t have a direct connection inside the component so defaults to the next place it can.
To get round this you’ll have to put extra menü items in the menü – external url links – that link back to the menü points in their language.

:-[ Never been called a profi before – lots of other things, yes but not a profi. Thanks! 😀
I don’t work for JA but I don’t see why not. I think you have to leave the Designed by Joomlart but the logo can go just the same way you edit out or change the logo at the top.
Wätter is ok. One day really hot the next, ok, then 1 day rain then back to hot! Temps vary from 22-35 grad! Lake is up at 22 grad so can’t be all that bad!
Gruss!
