If you look at the profiles you will see that you can clone them (see image below). When you save a profile it will affect all instances of that profile name. If you clone the profile first with a new name then you can safely edit it without it affecting other slideshow instances. The profiles are there so you can quickly create lots of slideshows for different pages with the same settings.
