February 19, 2009 at 1:00 pm #138344I want to change my background style images…I use Ja uvite which is of wood by default… I want to change the images to be other things like grass or earth or other things but I don’t know how to re-assemble the individual images of the template in photoshop.
Other joomla template sites now offer the cut up peices in sd format and stuff…what can I do?
I would have also liked to open my page from dreamweaver to fix the colors manually and check as I work? how do people at joomlart do this when they create?
I would love to learn this.

February 20, 2009 at 7:28 am #292634Nobody really answered so I tryed doing on my own….Here is my method for now…
I set up my local joomla/apache server (JSAS) (joomla stand alone server) and that created a virtual drive that I set up my template on.Now…I open my template’s css with dreamweaver and I open my webpage with a browser that way I can change the colors in the css and refresh my browser to see the changes I have made.
In photoshop I opened the *.jpg images of the template’s images directory and change those wood images that fade out into pure color. After I put the new image and fade them out I make sure that they all fade out to same color and I copy the color code to my css template :
body#bd {
color: #003300;
background: url(../images/body-bg.jpg) no-repeat center top #0f3c05;
}The last color at the end there after the no repeat center top is the main color in middle of page.
Now the difficult thing for me is knowing what colors in the css change which things in the template…There are some comments but its vague to me…Is there a place explaning this more clearly at Joomlart?
To add a new color style you need to change the css in the colors folder…

You don’t need to use dw to edit css or look at it joomla allows you to view and edit css from the admin backend
for images you dl and use the supplied source files open in PS, and if you’re using Uvite pls post in the Uvite forum as a club member you have member access to that area

February 21, 2009 at 6:30 pm #292772Well now I am having fun
I installed Firefox with the firebug plugin and wow does this work great for my color editing.
Sorry but the joomla back end ain’t at all close enough to be fast enough for me as I edit like Edward Scissorhands. Firebug lets you click any part of my joomla webpage and inspect it and it tells me EVERY css involved in the processing of that item and in which line i should look at. With my dreamweaver open i switch to it and change the necessary things…. Firebug also shows me the color of the color code in the css…something joomla cant do for now… i am not sure if dreamweaver can do it but I am happy now…editing is as smooth as a mcdonald milkshakeShannonN FriendShannonN

But I’m glad your happyCheers ShannonN
