[FONT=”Comic Sans MS”]I installed the JA Comment quite some time ago and i have it set where public should be able to see the comments but only registered users can post. It worked fine for months and today i noticed that the comments and the comment box are not viewable whether you are logged in or not. All the existing comments that were approved long ago do not appear either The “add a comment” is showing and when you click on that the page refreshes but the comment box does not appear. I have not been working on the website other than addin articles since it was working. I went back today and checked settings and they all appear to be correct. Any suggetions on what could have happend or how to fix it? website is http://www.kittycitynm.com

    thanks,

This is strange that it would just suddenly stop functioning properly. Are you certain there haven’t been any code file modifications anywhere – by anyone other than yourself?

I have submitted a Support Ticket for you to try to elicit some further assistance from one of the JA Development/Technical Support Staff.

    SIDE NOTE:
I really like the theme of your site. Ironically, my family and I just adopted a rescue cat this past weekend – Keelee, a 3.5 yr old who was “let go” by her family when the cat’s mother had another litter (and, apparently, the mother no longer was nice to Keelee). My step-daughter (12 yrs old) volunteers at a local pet store chain (PetsMart) in the Cat Adoption Center once a week for a couple of hours – to help exercise the cats). (I have to be with her often, since she is under 18). We met Keelee two weeks ago and decided to adopt her.

It’s taking a bit of time for Keelee to get used to her new home, not to mention our two established Cats (Oreo & Moo – a 18 mo old brother and sister). So far so good though.

KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK !!!

    🙂

Thanks Tom, and thanks for adopting a rescued cat, hopefully she will relax after being in your home for awhile and the other two will accept her.

    Have you upgraded anything lately?
What version of ja comment are you using, and is it the module or plug-in? I would suggest upgrading to our newest version.
It would also help to know the version of Joomla being used.
Have you checked to see that the item is enabled as well.
    Thanks!

nope, i haven’t done anything since i began using it. I did see the comment box once today and added a comment but after the page refreshed the comment box and all the comments were gone.

    Hi Ed,
The latest version of Joomla is 1.5.23. It contains some security fixes, so please do update the site.
After that is done, please be so kind as to tell me if the issue was resolved. If it is not resolved we will continue to investigate it and find your solution.
    Thanks!

Bump….I posted last on the 9th. Any ideas yet on why ja comment quit working properly on my website? It would really be helpfull if I could get this feature to work. I can’t even see previous posts on the frontside of my site. Blain mentioned updating joomla! to the latest version which I did but it did not have any effect on the issue. Do I need to uninstall ja comment and reinstall it??? If I do will i lose the existing comments?

what is the version of JA Comment? maybe it is outdated? check the version. I guess you may neeed to update the ja comment too. check this before uninstallling the component because you may lose all existing comment if you uninstall.

I think i have it working now. First it was not working and i was messing with the settings for public or registered users. Then after i updated Joomla! I forgot to go back and make sure it was set to public. So far it seems to be working okay now.

    thanks,
    Ed
