drarvindc;121223What i meant by aligning the bottom, was related to the height alignment of the left, right column with that of the body. Right now left and right columns ends far higher than the body.

Oh, I know what you’re talking about now. I’ve been trying to find some modules to fill up those spaces with, but it’s not easy to find something that isn’t already on the site. Maybe I’ll add some more google ads.
Anyway, I’m on it and they’ll be full soon enough. 😉

For anyone who cares to look, the site is looking pretty good in every concevable browser now.

Yeah it’s a great tool. I posted a link to the main page in this forum a year or so ago.
    Good luck!

    By the way Wooohanetworks,
I was right about the JA login module being the cause of the invalid token problem. I removed it and installed the VM login module, Viola… No more invalid token problem. Just not as pretty. I guess I’ve got some more css work ahead of me.

Hey I just wanted to thank you guys again for pointing out the couple of small problems with the site layout.

You inspired me to do some more custom work. I added a font resizer, a newsflash above that, and moved the search box to just below the newsflash.

In regards to the login & token error, I decided to use the VM login module which works as expected, but looked lousy and plain. I styled it to fit into my site.

By the way, I know the font tools don’t work in Safari and Chrome, but I can live with that.

Here’s a screenshot of the changes.

There is thread by tcraw in the Zeolite forum, he asks for Live sites using JA Zeolite, maybe you can point him on your site so he can see what you have done to the original template.;) But I just see it is not even JA Zeolite, but one of the other new ones, but the module headers looked like JA Zeolite on the first look. Or is it, really don’t know?

Oldphotographic.com even looks better now, but on my browsers here, the slideshow is very rocky and slows down the site. It is hard to stay on the frontpage as even the top menus are affected and load the drop down very slow, one can wait for them fold out like when it is a slow flash part or so….The problem is the effect of the slideshow in this case, as it uses the large image size and lets it float from one side to another. Maybe you should better use the simpler effects, it is really like the pictures move step by step with pauses between and I had the same when using some VM Extension that pulls the pictures from actual inventory, maybe you use that extension here.

Otherwise, the site looks interesting and also matches the content and topic of the site, although some may say why not using a retro style theme or so, but I think it is okay, creates some cooling no nonsense contrasts.:)

All what I would change is to add some content between the articles, so that not one article follows the other but something between, like banners or even only some thicker borders etc..

I did incorporate the zeolite theme into the shop, but the template is edanite. The other site Collectiblesvault I posted is using zeolite though.

The slideshow is from rockettheme. I absoutly love the ken burn efect and I really thought it looked great on this site. The reason it is dragging your browser is because it is somewhat cpu/isp intensive. It will look choppy on slower computers or computers that don’t have a cable connection. (not saying you have a slow comp;)) The animation does look smoother in FF though.

I will probably move the second product scroller from the front page though as it is probably part of the problem.

I had started to modify one of the newer JA templates to look more retro, but it was not turning out quite how I wanted it. I also tried nagya (I love that template) but the template is so buggy and unusable that I had to give up.:((

I do plan on changing the template sometime in the future, but not until JA comes out with a template that I think will be a good candidate for a complete makeover.

    Thanks for the comments. 🙂

Your Old Photographic site is going better day by day, loved the custom “customer Login” the background image looks fabulous in it and the all reformed serach cum newsflash plus font resizer is amazing, i dont know how you could club them all so nicely.

the slideshow does take time to load, yes i am on slow connection :p. and only one image seems to have the watermark. Planning to add watermark on others too?

planning for “Site of the Month” in future? you have my vote for both of your latest creations. http://www.oldphotographic.com/ does have Ja Edenite marks over it especially the menu items. but http://www.collectiblesvault.com/ does no longer look like zeolite at all.

Well seing that I have a ready made vote, I guess I’ll have to add one of them to the STOM. I guess I’ll add Collectiblesvault though because like you said it’s a complete mod. 🙂

I wasn’t planing on adding the font resizer, but I saw the template tools file in the template folder so I thought it would’nt be too hard to add it to the template. Also, once I moved the login I needed to put something back in the ja login spot. It was a ton of work and I spent the entire afternoon doing the mod. So It’s not for the faint of heart to attempt though. 😉
The whole thing just seemed to come together once I added the newsflash. 😎

Yup, the only thing that has now emerged more impressive is your “most in one module” (what name do you plan to give it btw?). Was staring at it for a long time, wondering how could you blend it all so well.

Forget what i said about the site in the past few days, but as on today your “most in one module” and “customer login” module makes the site stand apart from the lot. :-*

Based on the typical customer, I may be a good tester if the site works smoothly on the most common computers. I have a 1&1 High Speed Internet Connection, like already most people have, if by 1&1 or any other provider, but my computer is slow or at least sometimes whenever the ken burns effect is used I see that like I described and yet my Laptop is from 2006 with only 512MB Ram.

Nevertheless, maybe you should also check out Magento, there are some really nice themes out there, not only from Joomlart.com though. I think it is always whom you want and need to reach as customers, do they want something retro or fancy, glowing or conservative (Just looked over some of the newest FullFlash Photo Gallery sites and there is no way around to say those are quite interesting…:D) but I think this current site keeps the balance needed to reach a broad customer base, that just want to buy some stuff and read some matching interesting articles on top.

I wish you a lot of success with this site, if you now will keep using this template or any other JA Template or even a new Magento store with some other designers theme, in the end effect those all need to do their job for us!;)

You are right about the slideshow slowing down a browsers experience and possibly causing them to go elsewhere instead of staying on my site. I will probably replace it with something a little less intensive.

Magento is not recommended by my host Rochen (who also host the Joomla home site). It is too resource intensive, besides that my main goal is to have a reason for people to stick around my site. The best way to do that is to give them interesting stuff to read and look at. So for that reason alone I am going to stick with Joomla.

Now on to the flash sites. I wish you had made that statement in the SEO thread because I would have warned you away from all flash sites. They are horrible for SEO purposes, and the less flash you use the better.

I wish flash wasn’t so bad for SEO because it lives up to it’s name and there are some really flashy sites out there.

Thanks again for the compliments. 🙂
