(1) I am looking to change the footer text to white, but can’t find where to edit the code any help would be appreciated.
(2) How can I reduce the width of the footer to fit the page, as I am not sure where to go in the template.css to achive this. Hope this makes sense.
Thanks in advance.

December 15, 2011 at 8:53 am #429707Hi ray59
Could you post a link to the page and set the css optimization to No ?
Thanks
December 15, 2011 at 10:29 am #429723Thanks for your reply, have solved the text issue but I’m working in localhost on my pc. Have found a thead ‘Change footer border length’ this might work although I’m working in joomla 1.7 so not sure about the css being shown in the post. One thing could you explain why the css optimization needs to be set to ‘No’ the reason I ask is I have very limited experience.

When you set to NO the CSS optimization all css files are not compressed with a particular alghorythm, so all the files are showed with regular path so can be debugged correctly, we can recognize wich file is doing that
i hope was clear
December 15, 2011 at 12:45 pm #429737If I’ve got this right CSS optimization is really about speeding up a website but while building my site I set CSS optimization to No so debugging can be done correctly plus files sit without being compressed.

December 15, 2011 at 3:40 pm #429761To lend an assist to pavit . . .
The reason we ask you to set “Optimize CSS” to “No” – TEMPORARILY – is because doing so allows us to more quickly and efficiently identify the relevant CSS that you need to work with to achieve the results you’re looking for (assuming, of course, your working site is online and we can access it).
In your case, since you’re working on your local machine – in addition to setting Optimize CSS to No within your Template Manager–>General Settings – I would recommend utilizing a web development tool such as FIREBUG to identify and test out CSS modifications prior to implementing them “officially.” This is the kind of tool many of the Support Team utilizes when assisting Members with CSS and other development related issues.
Hope that helps.

December 15, 2011 at 4:01 pm #429775Thank you for your reply, I’ve just been following some tutorials using firebug, and didn’t realise I could test out any mods prior to implementing them. Hopefully this will make life easier for someone like myself with limited experience.

It really is a great tool … which is why I wrote the brief “scratch the surface” tutorial for it. There are also a number of additional FREE tools you can also utilize for various tasks . . . . WEB DEVELOPMENT TOOL ESSENTIALS – Design Like A ProHope some of that additional info helps as well.
And with that, I hand the ball back to my friend and fellow Support Member, pavit
