July 8, 2008 at 11:59 pm #130605Got a silly question for ya. :-[ I’m looking for the “administrative” button so that I can edit pages in my new website. Something similar to my other joomla sites. It’s usually right on the front page near the log in area.
But I can’t find one! (???)
How do I can access to the editing area?
Thanks!

July 9, 2008 at 8:13 am #258724Hmmmmm, you should go to http://www.yoursite.com/administrator and log in there.

July 9, 2008 at 11:20 pm #258862Thank you for such a quick response.
I found the administrator page but I am unable to log in using the user name and password that were detailed when I installed the Joomla package. I’ve found the back door but my keys don’t work.
Any ideas?

July 10, 2008 at 2:18 am #258880😀 .. Look at the way our Menalto answered.
Seriously, lascaper, you never login into backend of joomla? Are you the administrator of this website? Who installed it?

July 10, 2008 at 2:29 am #258881On the contrary, I’ve installed, built, and webmastered three other joomla sites. This is the first time I’ve run into this problem. The administrator button is usally right on the front page, but not this time.
And logging into the administrator area is usually a non-issue since you’re given the user name and password at the time the joomla is installed. But not this time.
That’s why I think there’s something very simple that I’m missing because it’s not usually this hard to gain access. The best I can figure is that somehow the log in information changed in between the time I stalled the quick start package and … well, now.
I appreciate your patience and your help 🙂

July 10, 2008 at 3:01 am #258886Hi,
Do you mind to show the URL?
To be frank, I have this issue before. But why it happened was because I pre-install and configure at my local pc. Then I upload whole joomla, and use PHPMYADMIN to run the exported SQL. End up it happened as what you facing now.
Some forum mention that check if login module was published but it does not work for my case.
So what I did was delete and reinstall everything online and it works..

July 10, 2008 at 3:12 am #258887Thanks! You explanation makes me feel a little less like I’m losing my mind. I’m really hoping I don’t have to start over! 😉
Here’s my url: (edited)
The “myonlineplace.org” is part of a patch that my host put in place so that I can work on-line while this new website is being propogated. But they assure me that this has nothing to do with my log in issue.
So I’ve come to you for help. I appreciate your suggestions.
Thanks!

July 18, 2008 at 5:40 pm #260766It looks like the quick start package just refuses to work for me so I’m going to take the long way around. I’ve started from scratch with the basic Galena template and I’m not having any troubles getting into the admin section.
Oh well….
