I would like to edit the menu colors, right now we’re using dark blue, but I’d like it to be a specific hexadecimal color code – what is the best way to do this?

edit the css files

The last time I had to change it for the “dark blue”, I think I actually had to go into a .php file on the server and change the words to “dark blue” – so just editing the .css files through the backend of Joomla should work to resolve this?

Usually the colors of the navbar are in the mainnavwrap area of CSS and below. I think you may also need to edit the css of the ja_menu css applicable to whatever menu you are using as well in some cases.
