    Hey guys,

I editted an article in a category that also featured in the big featured news box on the home page. All I did was edit the text, didn’t touch the image or anything, and it’s pretty much screwed up the layout for both the category page AND the homepage.

Ok I have unselected “Featured” (so it doesn’t get shown on the homepage in that featured news box) and it’s fixed the homepage. Category page is still broken though.

http://www.controversygaming.com/games/gaming-news/mmorpg/118-joomla-2-5-win-the-play-off That’s the article that is causing problems.

http://www.controversygaming.com/games page is messed up too. Seems like anything that, that article is on, it messes up, all I did was edit the text.

    Hi sbreame again,

You can try to unpublish this article > clean cache and refresh your site again. If page is not broken any more, there must be problem with content inside that article, maybe it has messed up html markup.

I un-published the article but it still shows on the category page and still causes damage to the page. I really can’t think of any way that editing the text would cause so much problems. I editted it from front-end (the little “Edit Article” button) if that helps with finding a solution.

    Hi again,

The problem is that your site is in offline mode now and you have logged in as admin account in frontend so you still see that unpublished article

Hi – it sounds like you have some HTML in the text that is causing the issue. I have seen this if text is pasted in from say MSWord, or if you have something like a Table or Div that isnt properly set up. If you still have the article (ie not deleted it). open it and look att he html (the html button of your editor. Clear out any and all html that isnt simple. That should solve it. Clear JAT3 cache and also the site cache – tools/cache. Should fix it. Good luck.

Hey guys, been busy hence the slow reply.

I did copy some text (that included ascii codes) so maybe that is what caused the problem. Will remove them tonight and see how it goes. If not, then I may just trash the article and make a new one.

    Thanks guys 🙂

No need to trash. Just open the article in HTML mode from the editor and strip out ALL html code in there. Im sure you are going to see some strange HTML or other formatting – just strip it out. Maybe just leave <P> or <BR> so you have something to work on.
Press Update – and now just use the editor to format the article.

Didn’t work at all. Still looking messed up. Code is below.

    <blockquote><div><img class=”caption” src=”images/stories/demo/sport/football-4.jpg” border=”0″ alt=”Sample image” title=”Sample image” align=”left” /></div>
<p>Archlord maintenance notice – 27th March 2013. Please refer to the following maintenance details.</p>

    </div></blockquote>

I’ll wait for your reply tomorrow seelife, if not, then will delete the article. Site should of been opened days ago, so kinda need to finish it this week. If deleting and remaking the article will be quicker then rather do that 😉

Just a quick update for you guys (and if anyone else has this problem)

I trashed the article and it fixed everything with the layout. I editted another article that is also featured on the main page and it will was fine. I’m not sure if it was because I editted it from front-end, but doing it through admin > Articles produces perfect results.
