When I go to turn off the enable development mode I have some problems.

The syntax for modal stops working – {modal}{/modal} – This just displays as text and does not perform its function of opening a model box.

As well in between paragraphs this character is inserted “Â ” – Also the quotation marks are replaced with something else.

These problems do not happen on first load of the page – but only when you refresh. If I turn development mode back on these problems go away.

So anybody know what the problem is? and if we can’t fix it, what are the downsides to leaving a site in development mode?

I guess that you turn on the cache of T3. You can goto Plugin Manager, filter for System type, and make the order of T3 Framework plugin to last. Clear cache and make a try again.
