March 18, 2011 at 2:06 am #161605I’m trying to finish a site (J1.6), I just got everything running, but when I try to install JAComment I get this errors:

I did check my Directory Permissions and they are all writable. Could it be something related to ownership on the VPS?
Thanks
March 18, 2011 at 8:31 pm #382147I got same error on Joomla 1.6, but it did install the database reportedly. So I manually installed the zipfile, and it reported success but no administration menu. Then I tried opening with jaextmanager and got this error message
# …….site/views/jafeeds/feeds/feeds1292378544.xml
# XML: Document is empty
# XML: Start tag expected, ‘<‘ not foundThe link to install guide goes to an empty page.
I’m about to give up and askfor a refund.

March 18, 2011 at 8:43 pm #382150I had the mod installed in my test drive, but once online I realized it was not working on ie8 or ie9. Then when I tried to uninstall I had to delete the folders maually.
Hope someone can help, I can’t move one
March 18, 2011 at 9:24 pm #382154I’m really disappointed. And this was meant to be the special extension one couldn;t get anywhere else. I could do better with five FBML declarations in a blank module.

March 18, 2011 at 10:06 pm #382161If I may chip in, is there any chance it would work on the 1.5 JA Business template? I’m testing a rollback that direction

March 18, 2011 at 10:10 pm #382162The J1.6 vesrion works on J1.6 and the J1.5 version works on J1.5. The problems above are due to other reasons which we can try and help you solve. It could be permissions or other hosting problems. It could be a conflict with another component you have installed. We do not know until we have investigated. Please raise a support ticket including admin and ftp details and I am sure JA will do their best to help fix your problem.

March 18, 2011 at 11:16 pm #382166That’s more helpful, thank you. I’m trying the 1.5 quickstart for JA Business now and looking at integrating FBConnect for comments instead, it promises single-step integrated login from Facebook. If it doesn’t work as promised, I’ll be back )

March 21, 2011 at 5:51 pm #382569Finally able to install, it was CHMOD permissions and old menu items that were not deleted were stopping me to install completely.
March 28, 2011 at 3:17 pm #383676I tried to install it twice and it broke my website both times. After getting an error message i could not log into the front or back of my site. Godaddy could not help fix it so i wound up uninstalling Joomla 1.6 and reinstalling both times losing my website. I do not know why it would not install properly but i am afraid to try again as i am getting tired of rebuilding my website. I am using the Beez2 template that comes with the joomla 1.6 download. Is there any way to fix this without breaking my website again to see what is going on? I did not save the error message but i think it said “error installing plugin line 171” along with alot of symbles and numbers that did not make much sense. Is there any other comment plugin or component that will download and install with Joomla 1.6

March 28, 2011 at 7:52 pm #383697I have attempted to replicate your problem but I cannot. A screenshot of the error page would have helped but I am sure you do not want to risk damaging your site again. If you wish to raise a ticket and allow JA to take a look I suggest you first take a backup of your site using Akeeba Backup so if things did go wrong you could restore in just a couple of minutes.
