June 5, 2011 at 7:10 pm #164845I’m already exasperated and exhausted but yet optimistic. I’m trying to setup an estore for downloadables. I get this error when uploading a file:
Warning: move_uploaded_file(/public_html/downloadsXXXX.pdf) [function.move-uploaded-file]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/XXXX/public_html/XXXXX.com/administrator/components/com_virtuemart/classes/ps_product_files.php on line 815
Warning: move_uploaded_file() [function.move-uploaded-file]: Unable to move ‘/tmp/phpCsI9tc’ to ‘/public_html/downloadsXXXX.pdf’ in /home/XXXXX/public_html/XXXXX.com/administrator/components/com_virtuemart/classes/ps_product_files.php on line 815
***Also, where should the download files be placed. I know for security, it says, outside of the webroot. Does that mean outside of http://www.site.com? I’m hosting several sites on one hosting plan.
I setup a floral and vitamin shop and was able to configure it. Just having difficulty with downloads and need help.
Thank you in advance for that help.
Kind regards,
AvisPS I’ve posted in VM forum but no reply yet.

June 5, 2011 at 10:51 pm #394799Hello A,
You got me posting again since a long time of absence due to health problems.
But!.. But your error above looks like a file permission folder on the “/public_html/downloadsXXXX.pdf’ ”
If you set the right permissions i think the error should be solved.
With Regards, J

June 16, 2011 at 5:23 am #396601I have posted at Virtue Mart and the moderator is clueless. He admits it in the public forum that he doesn’t know about part of VM, i.e., downloads. I posted the requested information before but will post it again.
Thank you, Amita.
I sent you a private message.

June 21, 2011 at 5:18 pm #397688I replied to ticket. I thought I would get a message from you via email of a post left but they’re not coming. I apologize for the delay. I don’t want to be pushy so I’m being patient. I really do need this solved if at all possible. Virtuemart forum moderator could not help.
I was wondering, do you know if I uninstalled the component and reinstalled it, if that would cause a problem. I know I’d have to configure the backend again with categories. I only have a couple of products but nothing real yet, just testing.
I desperatedly need this to work. Thank you for your help, Amita.

Avis</blockquote>Hi Geovi,
Thanks we got the info, but I could not use the account to access admin section, the error shown “You do not have access to the administrator section of this site.”, which means its not a supper admin account. Please provide a supper admin account so that I can have enough privilege to upload files.

June 27, 2011 at 5:00 pm #398691<em>@hungnd 249791 wrote:</em><blockquote>Hi GeoVi,
I need some more info:
Where did you upload the pdf file? in which form of VM? I need to know in order to replicate and inspect the issue. Thanks.</blockquote>Hi Hungnd,
Thank you.
I tried uploading the pdf to “Test Product.” I am not sure what you mean by “which form of VM?” I am using the version (1.1.8) that came with Mesolite II template.
I have uploaded VM to another site just to test it and I do not get that error. I got it to work!!
I was thinking of uninstalling VM on the site you’re working on and reinstalling it. I’ve written all the categories down just in case you did that. It would be no problem.
I did this, uninstalled VM and uploaded a fresh install. It says same version but there were some differences noted in payment types.
It’s working and my problem is solved. Downloads are working as they should!
Thanks for your help.
Regards,
GeoVi -
