I have just tried to install the ja_antares template at http://www.soaring2gether.com and ran into the same error each time:

    1. I installed the quickstart version for 1.5.10. The admin section works fine, but when you try to load the site, you get the following error: “Error writing to file”
    2. I tried re-uploading all the 1.5.10 files, minus the template, and the front end still shows only “Error writing to file”
    3. I tried reinstalling the template only (the version that came with the quickstart files), and I get the error “Error writing to file”
    4. Then I uninstalled the template that came with the quickstart files, activated the system legacy plugin, and installed an older version of the template I downloaded last August. I still get “Error writing to file” on the front end.

Your installation packages are usually so well put together, but this one is for sure lacking something. Can someone please help me sort this out?

looks like a permission problem. does it indicate which files?

No, there’s no indication of which file is involved. All you see is that message “Error writing to file” in black text on a white background – presumably while trying to load index.php.

That’s because I had to activate a different template temporarily. I am changing it right now back to ja_antares, and you can see for yourself.

    WOW! thanks for noticing that!

…wait a minute… how did you get that code? When I look at the source, all I see is the error message.
