After working with several of the templates, I believe that the use of the png logos with slices, dices and transparencies works against the very concept of Open Source.
That is, using these png logo images that cannot be easily modified or replaced with images made by any software except Adobe takes us right back to the monopolistic software practices that gave birth to the Open Source concept in the first place. These images can’t be edited or modified with Open Source graphics programs, or indeed, any graphics programs but Adobe’s.
Certainly, the drifty, reflective images are attractive, but are constructed in such a way that they can’t be replaced with jpg or generic png images without some unattractive results. And that logo style is not always appropriate to the company we’re building a website for.
Why not at least include one BLANK logo file that can be modified to fit the website’s new look.
