I noticed when I view an article, there is an extra space between the top of the content and the title/article details. When I view the source code, there’s a <p></p> right before the beginning of the article. I’ve checked several times–the articles do not contain these extra paragraph tags. What could be causing this? I don’t know if it’s something with Joomlart template/plugin or a core Joomla feature. I’ve attached two screenshots.

    Hi

Try to edit your article disabling the editor, make your changes and save it

    Are you using JCE ?

I’m using JCE. I browsed the content table in phpmyadmin and didn’t see any extra <p></p> at the start of the introtext or fulltext columns.

That’s a JCE setting feature and not related to template with the editor you decide what code to add in your articles – for this reason i told you to disable editor and try with simple html code

check at the JCE configuration –Editor Global Configuration — Formatting & Display section
it adds the <p></p> for new lines
