September 9, 2012 at 3:17 pm #180575I’m confused how Joomlart’s facebook like button is configured or setup. It has the same setup as me, 1 like button and 1 facebook comment box on the same page (referring to this example page http://www.joomlart.com/blog/tutorials/demo-toolbars-overview-and-tips-to-improve-yours) along with an app id in meta.
When I like that joomlart article, all I see in my news feed is “User likes {article_title}”. Which is perfect.
But on my own website with that same setup, when I like an article, I see the app name in my news feed. “User likes {article_title} on {My App Name}” along with an app icon. And then it points to the app with a add option when hovering above the app name. That is just horrible cause no one should be adding that app, the only reason the app ID was there is to moderate facebook comments. Yet the like button picks the App ID and causes problem.
I tried configuring the build in open graph like action at facebook but it’s locked and can’t be changed. How did Joomlart remove the app name from facebook News Feed when someone likes the article? Could you share how it’s done?

September 17, 2012 at 7:24 am #467179You can get the Facebook Like It Button for your Joomla Site. … in live action at the JA Social Template Demo it is really easy to install and configure with rich backend for settings.

I am facing the same problem.
Did you find any solution for this situation @arucardxarucardx Friendarucardx

December 28, 2012 at 9:51 am #477748Unfortunately no, and there is no solution available on the net as well. It seems that some websites currently do not face this issue as they are still using the custom like actions previously created. But somewhere in April or June, I forgot when but Facebook no longer allows custom like actions, requesting that all sites migrate their custom like actions.
So there you have it, screw Facebook =(
December 28, 2012 at 10:06 am #477750I am not using any custom like action.
I am only using facebook like plugin from http://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/plugins/like/ on my website.

December 28, 2012 at 10:12 am #477751Like I said, you used to be able to create custom like actions which would then allow you to modify what is displayed on the news feed such as adding or removing an app name or link to somewhere else.
But that can no longer be done due to restrictions from Facebook, thus the problem here where the App name cannot be removed from the Like action because its locked. The solution here is either to screw Facebook comment box or avoid using App ID on the page which would then mean no moderation.
Unfortunately, Facebook is too big and rich to care about screwing people so there is currently no other known solution for this.
December 28, 2012 at 10:37 am #477753Thanks for the clarification 🙂
I guess, we have to live with that.
