Facebook use the Open Graph tags to show correct details . You need to add open graph tags on your site , There are several extensions On Joomla extension directory for the FB open graph , you can find and install them to solve this issue .
Make sure extension is configured correctly and working to show the tags .
You can check the OG tag on this tools : https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/

kindly check the plugin is configured and working , I am not aware of the 3rd party extensions working .
To check the plugin is working or not you can check article page source code containing OG image tag in source code or you can enter your article page URL on facebook debug tool that gives you all details .
