hi,
Using Joomla Teline II template:
When i did the joomla 1.5.6 update files and replaced the files with your existing joomla install, i not get the following fatal error message on the homepage and cant access the site:
Fatal error: Call to undefined method JFactory::getdate() in /usr/local/psa/home/vhosts/oliverjamesenterprise.com/httpdocs/update/components/com_content/models/frontpage.php on line 178
can that be fixed? Site url: http://www.oliverjamesenterprise.com/update
fortunately i did this on a test site and not on a live site!! we need to update the live site to 1.5.6 which is currently 1.5.3 and getting hacked. so on that test site there i have updated the original site from 1.5.3 to the 1.5.6 using the update files.
What can i do to get that working – presuming that is a ja frontpage thing? If that gets fixed i guess i would just update the live site the same way?
Many thanks
olly

September 9, 2008 at 4:07 pm #269767Can you do the upgrade one more time? Just to be sure you got all files uploaded, and then upgrade the template to the latest version?
September 9, 2008 at 6:57 pm #269802Thanks for your quick reply – is the latest version the version you download from Joomlart? We massively customsised our original template and worried we’ll lose all that hard work. You reckon re-intstall the backup and then adding the update and then just replace the templates template.css and see if that will make our customised version of the template work again?
Many thanks

September 9, 2008 at 7:52 pm #269811Yes, version 1.6 or so.
Do a backup of the template you have now and replace all files exept: index.php, template.css, templateDeatils.xml and params.iniSeptember 9, 2008 at 8:00 pm #269814Ah ok thanks for reply – so if i keep the backup of the site whcih is in the actual back up from the 1.5.3 version, change the template to something else, remove the template, download the current version at joomlart, upload that, then upload those files you mention to replace the new ones from the site and then re enable it should work ok?
Sorry that was so long winded lol!

September 9, 2008 at 8:07 pm #269816Hmmmm, first do the backup of the whole site, then upgrade to 1.5.6, then download the latest template and extensions from here, for the template you upload all files except the one i mentioned earlier, then you need to upgrade the extensions.
for the extensions in the 1.6 teline package you should try to upload all files, except the xml files, which is where the setup of the modules is stored.Unless its written in the changelog that they have done any changes there too.September 9, 2008 at 8:54 pm #269819Oh god what a nightmare! Many thanks for your help.
In the process of updating to 1.5.6 – So you dont think i should use the internal installation feature of joomla but upload the new template manually? in terms of the extensions how do it update them, do i remove the modules and extensions first then upload them and renable them all agian or do you just replace the files? Many thanks for you help

September 9, 2008 at 9:55 pm #269822lets start over and simplifiy this.
you did the upgrade on a tests site, so nothing is really lost or criticle at this moment.
they take you live site and make a new backup, joomlaclone or joomlapack work wll
get rid of and delete your first upgrade attempt. database and all
install your new backup in a testing subdirectory as before.
then start all over, and make sure your updating right, file for file, not folder for folder.
also, check and make sure there have not been any JFactory component problems with the latest updates at their website
it may be an issue they have, and not joomla or joomlart
September 9, 2008 at 10:19 pm #269826Hi Many thanks for your help. I am at the point where I have reinstalled the site and got it working! the original that is on my test site.
Slight problem though. In the install area i get the following error: in the extensions and then install/uninstall area we get the following error messages:
Warning: realpath() [function.realpath]: Unable to access /usr/local/psa/home/vhosts/oliverjamesenterprise.com/httpdocs/update/administrator/templates/khepri/html/com_installer/install/ in /usr/local/psa/home/vhosts/oliverjamesenterprise.com/httpdocs/update/libraries/joomla/filesystem/path.php on line 247

I have reset the paths and it is still all there. So infuriating. Not sure how to fix that and then it looks like i need to:
– update the original to get to 1.5.6
– then remove the existing template and its components
– reinstall the teline II template and its components
– edit the various files so that it looks the same (which took a month)
– and then see if it all works again including all the joomla compoents such as JCEWhat a nightmare and i cant get through the first bit! Does jooomla version really need to be updated to 1.5.6 for sure – we were hacked the other day where the admin password was changed and i had to reset it again in the backend php my admin. Is there an easier way, such as installing a fresh joomla 1.5.6 and then somehow the content miraculously reappring by using the same database? and then reconfiguring the whole of joomla to then backup the changes and move over again to the actual site…would that work? ensuring that joomla 1.5.6 is actually installed?
Many thanks

September 10, 2008 at 6:42 am #269855I have to do the same but I am on 1.5.4. I am unsure whether 1.5.6 is wprth it as seeing many problems with the upgrade. One thing I have done to change the security leak [which is due to a problem with the token id] is change the name of your admin to something completely different. The hacks wil stop then.. they use the Token error on the default admin username, so change it sometihing they cannot guess.. 🙂
September 10, 2008 at 8:46 am #269893Hiya,
The username was in fact different to the default admin, and interestingly it was only the superadmin password that they changed, none of the user accounts….i was easily able to change the superadmin password by doing an MD5 reset in php my admin – perhaps this is an inconvenience to me but i could live with it if i knew they wouldnt login and change the sites content or deface it – i have set up a password on the /administrator folder as well so I guess they would have to go through that first – therefore am I safe? and everyime it happens i would just need to reset the password or would it open me up to loads more attacks? Many thanks for your help,
Olly
