August 26, 2011 at 7:12 pm #408784Can we have a link to your site and details of exactly where you placed your favicon?

August 26, 2011 at 7:51 pm #408793Thanks, but it’s fixed . . . at least I think. I followed the plugins/system/jat3/base-themes path all the way to the images folder at the end. I replaced the default favicon with the new favicon for my client. It showed up in Chrome right away as it should. I guess IE9 and Firefox will take a little longer. Followed this same procedure recently with another site which is using the Social template. There too, the favicon showed up right away in Chrome. But today, more than a week later, IE9 and Firefox are still showing the default Joomla favicon. I did, yes, clear all the caches. Isn’t a week usually adequate time for the favicon to show up across all browsers? Both sites had favicons in three places; I replaced all for caution. Is there a fourth path hidden somewhere in the template and a fourth favicon?

August 26, 2011 at 7:54 pm #408794Nope. But if you clear the temporary internet files in IE I am sure the favicon will show up. Or post a link so I can see if I can see it.

August 26, 2011 at 8:29 pm #408800Thanks . . . the two sites are psejavelincommunications.com; and mktjavelincommunications.com. The first site underwent favicon replacement last week. The second one was done a few hours ago.

August 26, 2011 at 8:53 pm #408812I can see your PSE favicon in the first. As I said, IE is a bit if a git with regards to storing favicons. Reloading IE ith ctrl+f5 doesn’t always clear them and you have to actually delete the temporary internet files for it to show.
Your second site is showing only the default IE favicon for me. Maybe you want to check your files again. A good methos is to unzip the quickstar on your desktop somewhere and do a search through it for favicon.ico and all copies will be quickly found.
