I am running Joomla 1.5.3 and I cannot get the Joomla favcon.ico to change. I’ve uploaded a favicon to the JA_purity template folder, renamed the original favicon, but the default Joomla favicon is still active. The new favicon is working fine on other templates.
The website is http://www.TexasShooting.com
Thanks

June 1, 2008 at 7:07 am #251439It can take up to several days before it will change, just be patient.
October 29, 2008 at 9:18 pm #277460In Firefox the favicon.ico working well, but I don’t see in IE 7.
I test in other computers, but it’s the same problem. I clear cache, delete cookies, but not working in IE 7.
I have waited 10 days, since you say that it is necessary to be patient. I see that neither in the web http://www.TexasShooting.com neither is shown.
I have the problem in http://www.conceptcom.es
Thanks in advance.mj1256 Friendmj1256

November 3, 2008 at 8:29 am #277883go through all your files
I had about 3 favicons in different places
November 25, 2008 at 1:10 am #280191I was this problem and the solution was cache.
I think IE dosen’t support favicon.July 3, 2010 at 1:40 pm #348854I got the same problem too. It seems that it does not support IE version 7 and above. I haven’t tried it with safari though.

November 11, 2010 at 4:37 pm #362469The favicon in JA Droid is located at the path below. The developers hide so well, but I still found it  . Delete it first then replace to have a faster effect:
plugins/system/jat3/base-themes/default/images
Glad to be of help 🙂

March 15, 2011 at 5:56 pm #381502To change the favicon’s I personally delete each one before uploading the new from the server to avoid basic cache issues, but make sure you know where you are putting the new file first, if in doubt, make a note of it’s original location.
To change the front end favicon.ico file you need to look at replacing the favicon.ico file in all the following areas:
/templates/ja_teline_iv/favicon.ico
/templates/ja_teline_iv/core/themes/brick-colour/favicon.ico
/templates/ja_teline_iv/core/themes/cyan-colour/favicon.ico
/templates/ja_teline_iv/core/themes/green-colour/favicon.ico
/templates/ja_teline_iv/core/themes/lime-colour/favicon.ico
/templates/ja_teline_iv/core/themes/orange-colour/favicon.ico
/templates/ja_teline_iv/core/themes/pink-colour/favicon.ico
/templates/ja_teline_iv/core/themes/red-colour/favicon.icoTo change the backend favicon.ico file go to the following folder:
/administrator/templates/khepri/favicon.ico
Once you have uploaded all of your favicon.ico files to your server, before logging out oor log in to your administrator panel and clear the JT3 Cache quickly.
Now clear your browser cache / history.
Now completely close / exit your browser.
Once this has fiully closed, re-open, type in your URL and you should see your new favicon in place.
Guidelines:
As standard, all favicon’s should be 16 x 16 pixels in dimension.
Use this link below to convert most files to .ico files:
Favicon generator >>Hope this helps.
