    Greetings to all You Joomla People.

    I’am building my first Joomla website, using JA_purity_II template.

    I have a few questions that i just couldn’t find…I can’t say I wasn’t looking.. *(Joomla.org, Joomlart.com and JA T3 Framework Wiki).

    First of all, is there an option to build a website Offline, and upload it when it’s done?
    If yes please give me a link to learn about that. (I found Akeeba Backup, but I’am not sure how to install it on HostGator with c panel)

    So far, I haven’t found any major issues with JA_purity_II exept maybe one.
    When I hover over “Explore” menu, everithing with MegaMenu is Ok, but when I click on “Explore” I loose the MegaMenu…*also the colours I used change to default gray*
    I saw that on demo site also, so I guess that’s normal, but how do I change this to always be MegaMenu?

    And the last…for now…how do I edit gray musk in the header to be some other color? I inserted my own pictures easy, but can I change this whole section to be some other color and still be transparent?

    Thank You.

    My Site will be online soon, so later i can provide my login info for future issues.
    Looking forward to read your post’s.
    Greetings from Milan Markovic.

    Hello,

    For explanation of local installation you can look here on Joomla.org

    With “gray musk” do you mean headermask?
    Code for header-block is in layouts/block/header.php

    In template.css these lines:

    /* Header mask ---*/
    .ja-headermask {
    background: url(../images/header-mask.png) no-repeat top right;
    display: block;
    height: 80px;
    position: absolute;
    right: -1px;
    top: 0;
    width: 602px;
    z-index: 0;
    }

    Hope it helps you,
    Good luck,
    Micrantha

    Hello,
    You need software like Photoshop to create an image with opaque gradient region.
    Edit the file header-mask.png, or create a new one with same dimensions.

    Maybe you can fix it with a free online photoshop-like image editor pixlr

    Good luck,
    Micrantha

    Thank You Micrantha, I have Photoshop CS4Extended and looking forward to CS5.
    If somebody else has already done it, please advise.

    I just bought hosting from Host Gator and I need to install Joomla.. Is it better if I install with automatic Joomla 1.5.15 installation and then apply JA_Purity_II Template, or…to install manually with ja_purity_ii quickstart…

    Milan.

    Hello Milan,

    Open header-mask.png in Photoshop.
    Go to Image > Mode and select Grayscale
    Again go to Image > Mode and select Duotone…
    In the popup window set Type to Monotone
    Next click in the black square of Ink 1:
    Now you can select your new color
    Again open Image > Mode and select RGB Color
    Save your image for Web & Devices as png-24 with transparancy selected
    Now upload your new file.

    Good luck,
    Micrantha

    Once again thank you for Your effort.

    However, it didn’t solve my problem somehow. I followed your instructions exactly, and I did change the color but I still get visible edges. There is attachment so You can see.

    I even found a plugin ..Ultimate PNG plugin…but still the same (or I’m doing something wrong with it).

    Sorry, the image is a bit small. Can you explain and show a bit more clear what problem you still have.
    Maybe you mean the edge between the mask and the background color?

    Regards,
    Micrantha

    Hi mikac i am able to help.

    Please go to admin backend > extensions > template manager > ja_purity II > edit css > template.css >

    go to the header section, and there should be a hexadecimal or decimal color code there under this line

    ja-header { background: #333; position: relative; z-index: 10; }

    #ja-header .main {
    background-color: #333;
    background-position: top right;
    background-repeat: no-repeat;
    height: 80px;
    }

    Please note the #333, it is where your red color code is supposed to be. Please give me the color code, and i will make a header mask for you right away.

    haha, it so happens i did the same thing ytd.

    Cheers

    Hi there…ahornygeek

    Thank You, this looks very promising. I was too much busy with other issues around my Website so I haven’t tried your straightforward solution but I rely think it works.
    I was working with AF0000 red, but now I don’t know if I should switch to JA standard membership and use one of available templates in Members section. (They look very good!)
    I will continue probably for now to work on purity_II . I will post after apply your solution (I also had to switch to new Joomla 1.15.16)
    Thank’s.

    Hi, attached is the header mask with color scheme #AF0000,

    it shoud be in your root folder, if you are using FTP / Local installation, it should be in

    …/httpdocs/templates/japurity II/images/header-mask.png

    (remember to do a backup of your existing one incase.)

    please let me know if you need something else more, i would be glad to help!

    trying to learn more abt JA_purity II more here,

    Hmm, the template itself is very powerful and customizable, IMO..

    i suggest that if you are genuinely interested in customizing your own website, you should work around with the current template more before you change anything, because there are some basics you have to know ^_^

    Cheers!

    Thank You, this is the way to Go!

    Earlier I had a few questions …Is it better to install joomla full package and then apply Template on the hosting server, or Ja_purity_ii_quick_start… OR…is it better to make the site offline and then upload it with something like Akeeba Backup? I have hosting already but not sure which way to go…

    Thank’s.

    Hi,

    Hmm from my own experience, I would rather test the site live and make changes
    on-site.
    Both has it’s pros and cons, let’s me list some for you.

    To create template locally and modify is not a bad idea. You see changes, you customize, you save the trouble of loading pages again and again online because the host is you, it loads immediately. However, when you upload the site to a server with a compiled version, there are several factors you might have to compromise on.
    1) file permissions. Your server might be Linux/windows , and it makes file permissions difficult to modify one way or another while trying to keep your site documents safe.
    2) php/iis compatibility. iis is not a concern to me, but think abt it: what if your version of php is the latest, and the server you have bought has an older one? There will be minor differences; and it can be quite stressing to resolve them at times( however some servers offer manual updates so no worries ^_^)
    3)installation. Rmb the time you first tried to install the server in your desktop? Hard for me as a beginner and it’s the same case for vceryone else. Most probably you have to do the same thing again just to upload it onto the server.

    Hah im having a stiff neck now sitting in the train typing this, but my advice is to do it as the site is live. Reason being you know you don’t have to deal with the difference between your local system and the server.

    Pardon me If I’m not relevant haha,
    but in case you want to do it locally, use joomlabackup. Extensions.joomla.org
    search for backup, it should come up as first.

    Cheers
