Hi,
I am not able to make font awesome icons visible in articles. In footer they show just fine.

Do I need to do anything special?

Hello You should add font awesome icon in this format
```
<i class="your fontawesome code" >  .... </i>
```
```
<i class="fa fa-joomla"> some text</i>
```
