December 23, 2013 at 7:48 pm #193204Hello all,
I updated Smashboard to 1.0.4 and I have the half of Menu icons disappeared, then I updated Fontawesome to 4.0.3 and I lost all the icons of the site…
I updated LESS and the result is the same…

December 24, 2013 at 4:48 am #516380Hi Ara,
The FontAwesome 4.x version changed completely the class name of icons so that all icon classes of older version we use in JA Smashboard template went away.
i.e: The plus icon.
icon-plus —->> fa-plus
In this case, we would like to suggest to roll back the FontAwesome v3.0.1 which our JA Smashboard template does support at this time. I did also attach the FontAwesome folder of the template, you can download and extract to templatesja_smashboardfonts path.
For the missing icon issue after updating the template, you can try to backup the modification and click on Compile Less to Css button in Template Manager, then Save. The updated styles in .less files of template can be compiled to corresponding .css files.

December 24, 2013 at 9:55 am #516408Hi Leo,
Thanks, I tried to change the icon’s name after 4.0.2 and compiled LESS but it gave me only the placement of Fontawesome icon and not the icon itself…
I revert to to Fontawesome 3.x and I will dig further to understand if I have to re-link something inside the template itself.

December 25, 2013 at 2:55 am #516452Hi Ara,
I just want to add some words that you can make a snapshot of those missing icons and send me PM with the admin login inf. I will come back to help you check and give you suggestion on this issue.
You know, I could not reproduce the same issue when I tried to update from v1.0.3 to v1.0.4 of the Smashboard template with Joomla 3.2 demo site on localhost.

December 25, 2013 at 12:22 pm #516498Hi Leo,
Thank you again, actually, I understood the issue… I used FontAwesome 3.2.1 http://fontawesome.io/3.2.1/… I used more icons that are not available in version 3.0.1
In updating to version 1.0.4 FontAwesome retrograded to 3.0.1… and I found the missing icons…
I upgrade my icons again to 3.2.1 and found them again…
However, as I told you, if I put the 4.x version and update the link in the back-end I can not get the icons… only the indication of FontAwesome
Hope it helps.

December 25, 2013 at 5:02 pm #516512If you are using the T3 Framework you can use some icons of the Fontawesome 3.1 only. Including all awesome new version to you site is not a trivial task, anyway you can try steps below:
– Step 1: Download the latest Awesome font version to your computer
– Step 2: Use a font tool to generate font, eg. http://www.fontsquirrel.com/tools/webfont-generator
– Step 3: Create a file “custom.css” into the template css folder …/templates/css/. In this file, use syntax @import to import the font. Then, the icons are ready for your use
Note: Importing font awesome 4.x will not affect old font set as the new one use different prefix to icons.
Hope that helps.

Here is a thread that might be of interest for you.
Indeed I was trying to find a solution to be able to use Font Awesome 4 (instead of 3).
And after a few hours of work, I have found a extremely easy solution.I just wanted to share 🙂
