I would like to add a menu to the bottom of my site, however, it appears vertically instead of horizontally. I don’t seem to have the footnav module position as outlined in the attached module position layout.

I found this thread with instructions, but this goes way beyond my abilities. http://docs.joomla.org/How_do_you_add_a_new_template_position%3F

You can also manually enter position name as outlined here::

and assign menu module to footnav position along with menu style selected as legacy-flat list
