MMMMMmmmmm – I believe it is a Facebook issue then. Anyway you know to force Facebook to load the larger image to the feed? Is this a setting possibly or maybe it is a preference we have to contact them about?

Thanks for all your help. Have updated to version 1.1.6 this morning, as my Facebook imports are STILL bringing in smaller images. I had applied all the fixes in this thread to 1.1.5, and I see that 1.1.6 has been updated with all of them. *Now* all my articles are 404 – ing. Its very frustrating. I am running standard settings across the board, with all the latest patches, even with an unmodified template – still small images coming in, and now this issue. Anyone else having these issues?

Here is a typical page resource to check. It has a big image available, yet only imports the small one 106108876121755 .

    Hello,

Please ensure that you have enable “Update Article” setting in profile configuration form, since if this setting is disabled, then imported items will not be updated.

If you can not handle this issue, please send me PM for your administrator account, I’ll have a look and help you to resolve this issue.

    Hello,

I have checked your site, some items are not updated because of reasons below:
    – some profiles did not enable “Update Article” setting.
    – Some profile enabled “Save Image” setting, in current version, if this setting is enabled, then image will not be updated when update article. (I have updated code to get new image in this case on your site)
    – since Feeds only returns some new items, so old items (that are not include in feed) will not be updated.

Please check menu city-news on your site, all new items (created on 24 Sep) has large images now.

Thank you for attempting to help. To recap, I should reset all the feeds to NOT save the image, and TO update articles – then delete the current articles. Then run the plugin (which times out, usually), and this SHOULD bring in the articles again WITH the larger images, NOT the smaller images with links to the larger images that I have been getting. I should then be able to turn update articles OFF, and set the images to SAVE again. Yes?

Or does this mean I can no longer save images, and every time a page loads in the site, new images have to be downloaded? I only ask as I am running a filter over all the imported images, resizing the huge ones down to manageable sizes and page load times. Importing 5MB + images from pages tends to grind the site to a halt.

    Cheers

And fail. This still isn’t working for me. Oh, and I did check the city news as suggested, and most of the images imported were small too 🙁 Very frustrated. I know you’re only trying to help.

ok, made doubly sure settings in each facebook profile were set to NOT save the image, and TO update article – I deleted the last 300 imported articles and then cleaned the cache. THEN I ran the plugin – result? All images that came in were small ones (timeline photos), and the articles linked correctly to the location of the article and big images. So it DOES NOT WORK. My front page is a mess of blurry small images. Dead Code, Can you please log into my site again:(( using the supplied credentials and help me fix the problem?

In terms of the city-news items, the only items with big images imported into that category were from Feedgator via RSS. Feedgator feeds are working perfectly. Facebook is definitely broken. The plugin needs to ignore timeline images (small) and collect and import the images that the timeline photos link to. This gives quality images for the front layout, and the articles. The small timeline images are of little use as they display poorly.

    Hi Shaughan,

You can try to remove current imported FB content on your site and run the cron to import again, also try to enable options: Update Article, Save Image, …: http://prntscr.com/4ttv6d

I try to import FB feeds with JA Social Feed plugin latest version 1.1.6 and the images show properly: http://prntscr.com/4ttvlk

Hello. Yes, all of those options are set correctly. I have deleted articles and re-imported them. I’m still getting small timeline images rather than full images. I am using the latest plugins. I have submitted a trouble ticket, but as yet have had no-one log in and actually look at my site to see what the problem is.

Thought that the above explanation from Dead Code is quite clear. The Feeds (which are old) can’t be updated. I did tried to import feed from this FB ID: 148521655207654 and I can still get the correct images: http://prntscr.com/4up905

Yes, Deadcode is clear in all his declarations and intent. I’m not an idiot. I clearly stated that I set all the options as per instructions given by Deadcode, and then cleared my cache, and then deleted the last 1000 facebook articles on my site. I then re-imported the articles as instructed. Guess what? Some Facebook articles only imported the small timeline images, not the larger ones they link to – I want the larger images imported so my front page doesn’t look ridiculous and blurry. When you click the small images, they link directly to the large images (as they should.) I have discovered that if a facebook page owner puts a large image in an album, THEN shares that image to their page, the social plugin only fetches the small timeline image, not the large one it links to. To recap, if a page owner publishes and image and article directly to a Facebook page, the plugin works. If a page owner posts to an album, THEN shares to their page, the social plugin fails (for me, anyways). BTW, 1.1.7 version doesn’t fix this.
