Dear Saguaros

We did manage to reply to your post yesterday. All that beautiful work is now poof – :-*

So doing a short recap – http://www.DR4Christ.com is on Joomla 3.3.6 – running the latest JA Wall template, extensions and JA Social 1.1.7 Our Facebook ID is 780002535355951 @ http://www.facebook.com/dr4jesus Articles are importing into K2!

Today We – Deleted the JA Social Feed Facebook Account Completely of Joomla

Deleted and Trashed All Old Facebook Articles

Cleared and Purged Expired Caches

Logged Out

Deleted Browser History & Cache

Logged In AND STARTED OVER – (In honor of Joomlart 😎 )

Images are still importing at 130 x 86 – (even with the 100 x 100 min settings you suggested) yesterdays images were even lower – @ http://www.dr4christ.com/index.php/itemlist/category/14-facebook

Here are some snapshots of A.) JA Social Feed Settings B.) Facebook Category Settings Only thing left is Global K2 Configs ect. – played around with those and see nothing there.

Interesting – Seems the plugin hangs and pulls just the thumbnails on https://www.facebook.com/feeds/page.php?id=780002535355951&format=rss20 – just an idea.

Pity the last posts disappeared from this thread. I completely reconstructed my website last night in the vain hope I’d missed something. 148521655207654 is a good ID to check for the thumbnail import issue. When a page owner uploads an album of photos, the plugin see’s the post but only creates articles with the thumbnails. I suspect most JA Wall users aren’t bothered by this, but I certainly am. It may be that the developers aren’t too keen on fixing the issue, as it can’t be fixed by adjusting the plugins settings. The moderators are trying hard, but not really “looking” if you know what I mean. It’s pretty obvious when you go to my website the problem exists 🙂

Dear Shaughan

Yeah those last posts were – epic. LOL I’m going to miss them. I think that sometimes – regarding the site – versions ect. this plugin works and sometimes it doesn’t. Shaughan do you import your Facebook pics into K2 or regular Joomla Content? (Trying to find a common thread) I think our Kung Fu Jedi friend knows what he’s doing – but – its difficult to replicate – thus the extreme amount of time it takes to get a solution. Saguraos did successfully take our Facebook ID and croned larger items than we were getting into his page (even though they weren’t the same size as the originals on Facebook) – were getting closer.

Tom

P.S. – It isn’t just multiple pics – I posted yesterday a different sized single pic and it did the same thing. I don’t think it matters either if its directly posted into the page or shared – its something inside the Plugin or a incompatibility issue.

Im pretty sure we’re going to have to solve this issue ourselves, or give up. I use regular Joomla content. I have set all my imports as per the settings suggested by the moderators. I think setting the minimum image size lower is a mistake, this doesn’t in any way get the plugin to import a bigger image. I’m “only” having issues with images posted to albums with more than one image in them. Direct posts/uploads to pages are fine, the plugin extracts a big image. Last night I pretty much started again, to no avail. I guess what annoys me the most is that the evidence of what is happening is right on our pages. Yet no-one has actually gone to my site, logged in as admin, and figured it out.

Yeah – I agree – making the image size 100 x 100 is rather insignificant when the majority of our images over the last month have been 20 – 30 times larger than this setting. At some point all pics in Facebook – go to an album – so if your getting a big image with multiple pictures – thats a good thing. I was getting that but not with shared posts – but I don’t get even 1 large pic anymore when posting directly within Facebook – unfortunatly. Single, Multiple, Direct posting or Sharing renders the same 130 x 86 image (or less – cron seems fascinated with the 8KB range – cron also imports video images different). This image size (130×86) is so small – no one really uses these types of images – so this is why I don’t think it is a Joomla setting. It has to do something with the plugin and the way it feeds. That will require code work (I think) – and that mi amigo is above my pay grade. Wink

P.S. Maybe where ever these images are being moved into is so small it auto down samples. (Just a thought)

Hi guys,

We are terribly sorry for the data lost. As Tom mentioned, I’ve tried to replicate the issue and gave my detailed findings but you know, it’s gone now.

You can PM me admin and ftp credentials of your site, it’s better with a closer look.

Best,
Saguaros

Hi guys,

You can go to file: /plugins/system/jasocial_feed/jasocial_feed.php

Find this function:
private function checkImgSize($url) {
$result = @getimagesize($url);
if($result) {
list($width, $height, $type, $attr) = $result;
//get only image with width is lager than 360px
if($width < $this->valid_img_width || $height < $this->valid_img_height) {
return false;
}
} else {
$patternBigImg = ‘/_b.(jpg|jpeg|png|gif|bmp)$/i’;
if(strpos($url, ‘fbcdn’) !== false && preg_match($patternBigImg, $url)) {
//In case of can not get size image, then return true if check it facebook big image
return true;
}
return false;
}
return true;
}
Replace it with:
private function checkImgSize($url) {
if(strpos($url, ‘graph.facebook.com’) !== fasle){
return true;
}
$result = @getimagesize($url);
if($result) {
list($width, $height, $type, $attr) = $result;
//get only image with width is lager than 360px
if($width < $this->valid_img_width || $height < $this->valid_img_height) {
return false;
}
} else {
$patternBigImg = ‘/_b.(jpg|jpeg|png|gif|bmp)$/i’;
if(strpos($url, ‘fbcdn’) !== false && preg_match($patternBigImg, $url)) {
//In case of can not get size image, then return true if check it facebook big image
return true;
}
return false;
}
return true;
}
We just tested it in Shaughan’s site: http://www.wanganui.org/sports-news-2

Kindly take a look and remove old imported feeds then import again.

Sorry Saguaros – found code and edited it beginning on line 1148. Cron’d and the images are still importing at 130×86. – as you can see on http://www.dr4christ.com/index.php/itemlist/category/14-facebook – you had already deleted the articles.

In addition – jasocial_feed.php is pulling up the error “Dynamically-related files cannot be discovered because there is no site definition for this document” when I edit in Dreamweaver. Not sure if this has anything to do with it. We are up to date on Joomla 3.3.6 and ext’s – using 1.1.7

Thanks for being patient,

Thanks for the attempt guys. In your code dump above, theres a typo (fasle instead of false). What is the code using MENTION all about? Going to play with this now, results look promising…..

ok guys definitely progress here. Files saved in the /images/ja_social directory are ending up with a “icture” filename at the end instead of a .jpg or whatever, is this to do with the code on line 1499? (graphapi/user/picture etc)? Seems too coincidental. Certainly getting mostly better quality images now, will work on it this evening and report back bugs etc….:p

Sorry for the wrong typo, here is code of that function:

private function checkImgSize($url) {
if(strpos($url, 'graph.facebook.com') !== false){
return true;
}
$result = @getimagesize($url);
if($result) {
list($width, $height, $type, $attr) = $result;
//get only image with width is lager than 360px
if($width < $this->valid_img_width || $height < $this->valid_img_height) {
return false;
}
} else {
$patternBigImg = '/_b.(jpg|jpeg|png|gif|bmp)$/i';
if(strpos($url, 'fbcdn') !== false && preg_match($patternBigImg, $url)) {
//In case of can not get size image, then return true if check it facebook big image
return true;
}
return false;
}
return true;
}

Text in red is additional code.

Sorry Saguaros – found code and edited it again. Deleted articles, trashed them, cleared temp and permanent cache and reset browser and images are still importing at 130×86. – as you can see on http://www.dr4christ.com/index.php/i…ry/14-facebook

In addition – jasocial_feed.php is still pulling up the error “Dynamically-related files cannot be discovered because there is no site definition for this document” when I edit in Dreamweaver. Not sure if this has anything to do with it.
Thanks for being patient,
