Hi all, brand new customer here.

I bought the teline IV template and I basically want it exactly how the demo is so I can just edit it.

I cleared out my FTP and uploaded the quickstart files and folders in the root directory.

I got to the installation window where it asks to select a language then click next. This is where things have gone slightly wrong.

When I click next, that “loading” symbol appears and well… it never gets past that point. It spins and spins, I’ve left it alone for 20 minutes and it still spins. No errors. No crashes. Nothing.

Have attached a screenshot to that screen.

Any suggestions would be great. Did think about re-uploading but will leave it alone in case a mod/admin needs to check it.

    Thank you

Ok I’m re-uploading the files now.

Andddd it didn’t fix it. Will be gone for the rest of the day in a few hours so will check thread then. Our host is ipage (not the best, I know, they have been fine for us for the past 9 months though)

    Hi sbreame,

Did you try to install fresh package of Joomla? If problem still persists, it may relates to Joomla’s installation process’ inability to write to the file system – in other words, the problem relates to permission issues on the server. Maybe, the user of the hosting account cannot FTP to the Joomla website. Please try contact to your hosting provider to check the permission issues associated with that user account.

Kinda saddening that no-one replied. Am going to upload 1.5 now and see if that version works.

1.5 got further, it loaded into the 2nd step then got the error about cookies and “alternatively, there could also be a problem with the server’s session.save_path.” I understand 2.5 is better for security so will once again delete all the files on the FTP, re-download the template then re-upload the files.

Sorry for spamming the thread, just posting updates for the mods/admins on what I’m doing and what has been done. (Can’t edit a post that is more then 20 minutes old sadly)

Back with the original problem. Select language > Click Next > Never loads.

Did you try to completely uninstall the new Joomla 2.5 files, and then delete the old database AND the old database user (via MySQL)?

Try to remove this old data and install again.

I’m so sorry! I did not see your reply in the thread yesterday at all.

I did have joomla 2.5 installed before using SimpleScripts that comes with my host, which all installed perfectly fine. I read on here that installing via quickstart folder was the best way to go if you want the template exactly how it is shown in the demo. I deleted every folder I could in the FTP (except for forums and some folders wouldn’t delete, I think they are still tied to the databases)

I Have like 5 databases, some are named normal, and 2 have random names. I will delete all the databases (I don’t need them anyway) and try that.

Before I delete the databases. I want to make sure not to delete my forum’s database. There’s one that begins with jml (my guess would be joomla?) and one starting with php (forums are phpbb3, so this one should be the forums?)

    Just want to confirm.

    Hi,

I’m sorry but I’m not so clear of ‘your forum’s database’ here, your site is not installed so I’m wonder where its database comes from.

If you want to use Quickstart package to install, you need to have a new fresh database.

In case you’ve already had a site installed and don’t want to delete its database to install a new one, please follow user guide of this template in which we provide details settings of module/template used as in demo site.

Then let me know if you need more helps.

I cleared out all databases but one (my php forums) deleted all files from FTP and re-uploaded and problem is still there. Never getting/loading past the language (step 1) screen.

I knew the databases had nothing to do with it. Database is step 4. I can install joomla with absolutely no problems with simplescripts from my control panel, it just seems the quick starts are giving problems.

I will get onto Ipage and see if it’s something at their end that is stopping the installation.

If possible, Pm me the following info, I shall try to help you install the quickstart:

    – Cpanel info and folder you want to install this quickstart package

    – A new database

    – Username and password of database
