August 29, 2011 at 7:59 pm #409460Not yet it has not. If you upgrade to J1.6.6 then make sure your Kunena install is up to date and you are still getting 500 internal server errors then we can help you diagnose the problem. Can you answer the questions below as that really will help.
What exactly are you doing in the forum when the error occurs?
How often do you see this error?
Does it only happen on the forum pages?
Does it still happen if you switch Kunena template to one of the default Kunena templates?
Does it still happen if you switch to a shandard Joomla template?
It would also be advisable to not the exact times these errors occur. If you do that you can ask your host to look at their error logs. 500 errors ar 95% of the time related to the way your host has set up their server and if they can see the messages it may be a simple thing for them to fix.

August 29, 2011 at 7:59 pm #409462Also, if the JoomlArt J1.7 update for the particular template you are working with has not yet been released, JA has released our T3 Framework Plugin which can help you upgrade for J1.7 by yourself if you can not wait. Information can be found via the above provided link.

August 29, 2011 at 8:05 pm #409463I think at this point it would be best if I just update to 1.7 and pick another template. If I do so will all of my articles still be available to me and images as well. I am a beginner and I expect a learning curve. It seems that sooner or later this will be a continuing issue. I would rather update everything now then later. Any thoughts on the best way to update to 1.7.

Well, depending on which template you want to use, some have already been updated —>
http://www.joomlart.com/updates/joomla-templatesOtherwise, there is the T3 Framework Plugin (link) I provided for you above . . . to try to upgrade from a J1.6 template to J1.7.
There will always be a learning curve . . . . heck, I’ve still MUCH MUCH to learn. 🙂

I think that one is completely up to you – depending on who your WebHost is (and how competent they are)However, if you utilize a quickstart installation, then it installs J1.7 for you … which, in my opinion, is one of the greatest benefits of the quickstart packages. (see links in my signature below) 😎

August 29, 2011 at 10:17 pm #409505Sorry to interupt.
Have you tried setting a default template first? It would be shame for you to do all this work then still have the same problem. As I suggested earlier 500 errors are very often server related so it would be prudent to try and get to the bottom of it first.
Please could you try my suggestions earlier on before you upgrade and switch template.
