July 31, 2009 at 10:22 am #143130Images on front pages articles are being saved as a 140×105 thumbnail & then when the page is displayed that thumbnail gets resized to whatever size image you have specified in the editor. This means that the image quality is very poor if the image size that you want is larger than 140×105.
This is a bug. When are you going to fix this?

July 31, 2009 at 11:34 am #312763The 140×105 thumbnail picture has been resized to 411×306 & looks like crap. If I change the template to JA_Pariiti then it displays correctly with the 640×480 images resized to 411×306
Why are you creating these small thumbnails anyway?

August 3, 2009 at 8:12 am #312958Hi alicebb
This cause is from your article. In img tab, you are including width=”411″ height=”306″. You should edit this article and remove your configuration in this image.

If I remove the image size then I will just display the 140×105 thumbnail that the template created. I don’t want a small thumbnail I want the image at 411×306. I am using the default Joomla WYSIWYG editor & am not adding any code to specify the image size apart from stretching the image.
The fault is with the template creating & using 140×105 size thumbnails & not using the image that I specify.

October 29, 2010 at 5:41 pm #361054To me this is sort of a bug. I was able to figure it out what is happening.
I had uploaded an image that is 240×160 in size. On the actual article page it displays the uploaded image – with no resizing. When you view the image info – you can see the actual uploaded image file name eg myImage.jpg and it’s proper size.
On the frontpage when you view the image, you see a smaller regenerated thumbnail version of the orginal eg. myImage_140_105.jpg and it is 140×105.
If in the article you set the dimensions of the image to anything, then the frontpage will resize the thumbnail to that size. So even if you set the dimension to the actual size of the uploaded image – then the frontpage takes the thumbnail version and enlarges it so it will be a poor quality.
This bug as it stands forces 2 things:
1) Only upload the actual size of the image to be used in the full article.
2) Only the one size of the thumbnail is possible. -
