Just installed Rutile on a brand new fresh installation of Joomla that had all the sample data and pages. The front page is blank. Again, this is a fresh installation. Nothing was changed. Here’s the page: http://97.74.140.117/
Help, please!

February 13, 2009 at 8:22 pm #291217Looks like you didn’t click the install sample data option when you installed.
February 13, 2009 at 8:56 pm #291223To get this to work, I had to modify index.php. Note below that I had to move <jdoc:include type=”component” /> out of the if statement. I don’t believe this is a perfect fix. Are others having this problem as well?
<div id=”ja-current-content” class=”clearfix”>
<jdoc:include type=”component” /><?php if(!$tmpTools->isFrontPage()) : ?>
<div id=”ja-pathway”>
<jdoc:include type=”module” name=”breadcrumbs” /></div>
February 13, 2009 at 8:57 pm #291225The sample data is all there. There are 5 or 6 articles set to display on the front page in the article manager. None show. See my last reply.

February 13, 2009 at 9:01 pm #291226Ah, I didn’t look properly. You have installed a fresh joomla install then installed the template. I was looking for the JA quickstart data.

February 13, 2009 at 9:27 pm #291230I’ve just had a good look at the Rutil template and the front page is customised with some overrides etc.
While what you have down will work, it is not the wat the template was intended to work. It wont resize the images etc or layout as intended etc.
You need to install the mod_janew_fp and the mod_janews and configure them correctly. Once done you will get the frontpage to work as intended and your articles will appear correctly.
The easiest thing to do is install the rutile quickstart to see how it is done and configured.
February 13, 2009 at 10:08 pm #291241I tried installing the quickstart zip file but got this error:
Error! Could not find a Joomla! XML setup file in the package.

February 13, 2009 at 10:20 pm #291244Sounds like you were trying to install it as an extension.
If you unpack the quickstart zip you will see it is the complete joomla package that you need to upload to your hosting space and install as you would if you were installing joomla from scratch.

February 14, 2009 at 7:06 pm #291412Hello group, if I want to show the articles in the frontpage without use JA News 1.3.1. What should I do? or what should I change in the template? :confused:
I need the normal behavior without JA News 1.3.1.
Best regards and thanks,
Gustavo
February 14, 2009 at 7:13 pm #291415By the way, Maybe I could use the Joomla frontpage normal behavior + JA News 1.3.1. What should I do with the template to achieve that?
Best regards,
Gustavo

February 14, 2009 at 7:15 pm #291416That is quite simple.
Simply go to menu item manager for the main menu.
Click new
Click articles
Click front page blog layout.
Once you have names this home or whatever set this menu item as the default menu item and disable the old default item.
February 14, 2009 at 7:42 pm #291425Hello Phill, there is something weird in the template. I follow your suggestion and create again the frontpage and the behavior is the same. I believe that the template Rutile have a different implementation maybe I should change something in the index.php. I would like to know what exactly I have to change.
Any ideas?
Best regards,
Gustavo
February 14, 2009 at 7:43 pm #291426By the way, my menu frontpage does not show nothing “only a content empty”…

Since you have been a member for nearly a year, I am sure you already know this… but sometimes we forget a simple step… Have you set any articles to display on Front Page?
