I’m not sure if that’s the right layout name, but I’d like to set the front page to display with the latest article spanning both columns and then the two-column layout with a couple more articles below.

This seems like one of those things that’s easy (like, “Umm, you didn’t look under Templates > Make My Page Look Like This > Blog”) or get-into-the-code difficult. I appreciate any help that you can give me.
