enable the GD2 library in the admin section of the site, also you should ensure all the images are small in any case; that is file size wise as if the site has to resize a large (600×800) picture to 60×80 it will still take the same time as loading the full size image to do it.

keep your images under 200 x200 and it loads much faster and the resizing utility has less work to perform

Where specifically is the GD2 library

I too am having problems with the image resizing on front page items.

I’ve tried using pre-sized 200x200px image, smaller, bigger, different proportions and have yet to grasp how it works.

Using bigger images produces a large thumbnail that displays very blurry, using 200×200 the thumbnail is created out of proportion with a black background at 310×230 (which is bigger than the original)

I also can’t work out where to enable GD2 as suggested.

    Any ideas?

    Or…

If that can’t be answered, how can i stop the thumbnails showing altogether?

Thanks teletrance, that solved the issue of the image proportions.

I’ve changed the Leading Image size to 220x220px. I’ve added an image to the article 500x500px and the system is creating the correct size Leading Image thumbnail and placing it at:
    /images/resized/images/stories/news/imagename_220_220.jpg

But when loading the front page, the image displays at 500×500 whilst using the above mentioned 220×220 image, thus presenting a highly pixilated image stretched to more than double its intended viewing size.

Looking at the article it self, the image displays perfectly in the position i set it, and at full resolution (500×500).

Oh, I know that issue, but don’t know a solution. maybe if you open a new thread someone will see and eventualy answer. If it will be to take a guess, I’ll bet on server rezize image programm fault.
