April 18, 2007 at 12:28 am #119746I think there is a need to co ordinate and rationalize requests for future template, I may be pre-empting Hung on this one but It’s here now lets use it, I have made the poll, multiple choice to allow for more than one template but please don’t all go crazy and blindly tick all 🙂
Tick the main ones that YOU want to see, and please post in the thread saying WHY, you want it and what value the template will bring you
Personally, I have no need for a ‘dating’ site or a band site or a shoping cart site etc
so I’ll only choose what I want

April 18, 2007 at 5:43 am #218276This is a good idea, but we’d also ask that if you have an idea for a new template that you create a new post in the request and wishlist area. I know personally that all the templates that were made since I have been working here have been from people’s suggestions 🙂

April 18, 2007 at 6:42 am #218282I have done my job and ticked. Of course, I should have read first that it was possible to tick multiple choices but I choose the one that matters. I need a travel web site. Hopefully inspired by the Norwegian fjords and mountains and most outstanding nature!! Feel free to contact me for outstanding images from the fjords of Norway!

April 18, 2007 at 6:51 am #218285I choose one too. 😉 I did choose color themes for Joomlaboard and SMF. I see on the JoomlArt forum from time to time request to this, so I think there is enough demand for it.
Kind Regards,

April 18, 2007 at 10:15 am #218316Well, then please feel free to help me out. I need to update my current travel agency site ( yes, I do run a travel agency as well ) Is it ok to post the link here I wonder ( http://www.goescorted.com ) Site is currently not with Joomla but I am looking at porting it. Though there are so many issues that I can’t seem to find the time just yet. Your ( or anyone elses ) inputs to make a new template with greater pictures than the cameras would be a great help!! 🙂

April 18, 2007 at 11:33 am #218329I know, I know. Shame on me. However, this was created before the birth of Joomla and porting it to Joomla is one heck of a job. ( besides, there are so many custom features, such as importing all tours/information from all the leading tour operators out there.. ) Feel free to create something like this for me into Joomla! 🙂
I have my other site: http://www.fjordtourscruises.com converted to Joomla already but that was a breeze to import compared to this other site. 🙂April 18, 2007 at 2:35 pm #218343I operate two sites, both related to support (simuser.com & wordstar.org).
The first one is using Joomla and SMF using the long_grey and sample_long_grey templates. The second is an old and in much need of update HTML based site with an SMF forum again. Add /joomla to the URL to get to the work-in-progress Joomla version, which is using ja_Polaris – at the moment. This may change if I can’t sort out how to get it to work as I want.
I need Joomla & SMF matched templates for these fairly formal information sites. No fancy portal stuff, no user selection of templates, colours, or styles; but with different site sections being colour coded and the default Home page being matched in a subdued way to the forums. If the basic SMF theme can be supported without too many changes it would help when applying updates, i.e., stick to removing unnecessary login and stats when wrapped in Joomla and use css to blend the two.
The other point is that a template update should be considered when both Joomla and SMF get their major updates later this year so that a whole new template set isn’t needed.

April 18, 2007 at 4:20 pm #218352Yes, I voted for “All 2007 templates supplied with colour themes to suit SMF, Joomlaboard Forums” and “Web Design Company Template”.
I think , with a view of a common user, it would be a perfect solution if you want to run a site. You have a CMS, and also a forum, and a matched template for both, it would be great! We’ve thought about this, however, there’re some reasons made we stop thinking about this. Just imagine that one team is setted to design a template in 15 days…. and with a same amount of time and people, that team have to design 2 template, how will the quality be? In the past few days, some new great guys just joined our team. 😉 We now have more power and people and to do such a thing, I believe. Joomlart’s templates for both Joomla! and SMF/Joomlaboard is surely on our future plan. The time is near, ya know….
A reason why I voted for “Web Design Company Template” is simple. We already had various styles of templates but that kind of style. So it would be a great addon to our current porfortio. 🙂

April 18, 2007 at 6:49 pm #218373I voted for the SMF theme & Classified theme.
Hieu Nguyen, I can see your point about quality possibly going down with too much workload in too shor of time. Maybe you can add another club for SMF like the extention club.
I voted for the Classified theme because it is the only other theme I might be able to use.
MiCCAS, I didn’t see an option for a shopping theme in the poll. I know there are already 2 shopping themes already, but there is a great need for more. I can’t be the only one trying to sell stuff online. I’ll PM my request to you to add the option.

Never mind Bill when I get time (August school holidays?) I’ll do some heavy mods on a template for you I’ve made a mock up of a new site design for Erik and started modding to suit today. But have to stop and eat and get ready for class
I’ll send you the mock up for your review
