Am I missing something? I have set some content as type ‘gallery’. As expected, this makes the images that are embedded in that article appear in a slideshow on the home page. What I can’t seem to find anywhere is a way to make some images show in the article, but not in the slideshow. Or vice versa? Seems really limiting to have to make images both fix the slideshow on the front and also be the ones I want embedded in my article content. Is there a class to hide or show them?

    Thanks.

    Hi,

I like the fact that you can have a gallery or an image on the front page. But, like you, I sometimes want an image on the front page and a gallery in the article. For me, out of habit due to being great helpful products, there are certain plugins/components that I use on nearly every site – minimum of JCE, Akeeba, and of interest to you – widgetkit. Take a look at it, you add a short-code [widgetkit id=4] into an article and you have a gallery, a slideshow, map, accordian, etc, etc there. They do a free and premium edition.

That could help in your problem and also assist in any other sites you do. Just an idea for you.

    Guss,
Thanks for the info. I too have a list of “go-to” add-ons, including Akeeba and JCE, like you. I usually use http://www.nonumber.nl/ as I have a license and like their accoridan, modal, and other add-ons.

I like the gallery options with widgetkit, so thanks for the tip. I can see how I can use this tool to have a slideshow in my content that doesn’t appear in the home page slider, which is great. However, I still need to figure out how to control the photos that are in the slideshow on the home page and limit or exclude. I suppose I could use the widgetkit in a module and assign it there, but trying not to mess with the template features.

Sorry, maybe I don’t understand properly what you are trying to achieve.

Use Gallery and it will give you a slideshow. Use text and you get text…..

Use Image and put a widgetkit slideshow in the article was what I meant. Then you can pick to have the slideshow front-page (with Gallery) or in article (with Image). Does that make sense? Otherwise you’re going to have to heavily hack the php code.
