Hello,
Im looking into getting JA Sanidine 1 or 2 but before I make a move I have a few questions. My current site is using a portal of phpbb3 which limits us with a full grown site and expansion. So questions…
1. Is it possible to wrap phpbb with no header and is there a theme that matches the template? Is there also a theme for vbulletin? I cant choose whether vbulletin would be a better option.
2. I have only used Joomla once and I would want to integrate a donation system to show the last person who donated and add them to a members group in the forum. Is this possible?
3. I have never used such a graphic intensive site before and may have trouble filling it up. Will this be a big issue? I am not super good at photoshop but would need to add a new background to it to make it unique and TF2ish.
4. I currently use a shared godaddy hosting package on linux, will this still be sufficient?
My current site: http://www.topnotchclan.com
A site using the template that I like: http://www.5e-community.com

February 8, 2009 at 1:03 am #290062I think some questions, also by some gaming related users, already have been answered in this thread http://www.joomlart.com/forums/topic/pre-sales-questions-how-commond/
As far to the phpBB3 question, as by now there is no theme for this board at Joomlart.com.
Same with vBulletin. Donation system can be integrated, you should look at http://extensions.joomla.org for one that fits your needs, only look for those marked “native 1.5” to avoid browsing extensions that are not supported by the actual version. To the graphics, refer to the thread with the link above. With GoDaddy, simply use the search function of the forum, here are some threads in the public area that handle issues with this host.Hope it helps!

Yes. See http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/search/1/donations/
3. I have never used such a graphic intensive site before and may have trouble filling it up. Will this be a big issue?
No. It’s only as ‘graphic intensive’ as you decide it to be.

GoDaddy is capable of hosting such a site. Although I would never recommend Godaddy in the first place. Very poor host tbh.
February 8, 2009 at 2:27 am #290069Ok, thanks. Would you guys be able to make me a background by chance? I looked at all the donation mods and found one. Also, how do you integrate the joomla and phpbb logins into one? Godaddy has been pretty nice but speed can be slow and they are stubburn about security.
February 9, 2009 at 12:19 am #290176What is the best way to make this transition? I want to keep my forums up while I work on moving the site over and setting it up.
February 9, 2009 at 12:28 am #290178Well for a gaming clan i think this template will work great for you
February 10, 2009 at 6:53 am #290385Forget the last question, What is the difference between Sanidine 1 and 2 other than color? Are there any known phpbb templates that match and do I use community building to integrate the logins? How do I get donators that donate from joomla get put into a user group in forums?

February 10, 2009 at 9:27 am #290418So what does community builder do then? What if I wanted to change my forums from phpbb to vbulletin in a year, if I was able to convert the forum database over would people still be able to login from joomla?
