Hello,

I have a few requests and questions for the forum members and/or staff.

    1) A friend of mine is having serious trouble loading the website. It’s “forever loading” unless he stops it in his browser, in which, the page loads fine. He’s tried this with multiple browsers. Can someone go to http://www.controversygaming.com and let me know the loading times on say… the homepage and forum?

    2) When searching the domain, and typing “site:www.controversygaming.com” in google, the homepage has “News site template Joomla 2.5 for newspaper” how can I change this?

    3) I’m using Progressive caching, system cache (not forcing browser cache) and cache_lite – Is all this fine to use?

    Thanks 🙂

Just reading here http://www.robertwent.com/blog/servers-and-hosting/leverage-browser-caching-joomla-speed-tips About turning on leverage browser caching and how it could dramatically increase the speed. Any thoughts?

Ok (sorry for spamming the thread)

I got onto ipage live chat and they said the page loads instantly for them. While there was a brief 3-4 minutes silence from them on the chat, I tried the site and it loaded in 2-3 seconds (halved from before I went onto live chat) I was then told to clear my cache and cookies, which I did for chrome and boom, homepage loads within 1 second. Wether or not they did something, I can’t tell, but for me, it’s loading exceptionally faster then it did for the last 2-3 days.

    Hi sbreame,

Can someone go to http://www.controversygaming.com and let me know the loading times on say… the homepage and forum?

    – Tell your friend check the bandwidth again, in my end the load speed is not so bad. This is so important thing.

2) When searching the domain, and typing “site:www.controversygaming.com” in google, the homepage has “News site template Joomla 2.5 for newspaper” how can I change this?

    – This seems to be metadata description of your site, try checking it in global configuration or in backend settings of Home menu item

    – This is a good tips for performance: http://www.joomlart.com/blog/news-updates/tools-and-tips-to-check-joomla-site-speed-and-improve-performance

Yeah the website is loading fine now since I was onto live chat with ipage (maybe they did something?)

I’ve figured out the meta data problem, the global configuration was set correctly, but I had to re-do the meta data for the homepage itself.
