October 5, 2010 at 5:57 am #357745Hi Kymmy,
It all looks great. Just the slideshow first slide, the text reads >> Australasia – Landmark Buildings << Do i see a spell mistake or its correct?
also on the images in the bottom module positions, example >> http://www.geoies.com/images/stories/mods/googlemaps.png
One can see the rough edges, may be you could refine them to have sharpness. One way would be search for png images with clear background and then place them in your background.
Will update you, if i find anything odd. Rest all is great and congrats.

October 5, 2010 at 8:02 am #357763Hi Arvind and thanks for the feedback..
Australasia was used as it encompasses the region including Australia, New Zealand, the island of New Guinea, and neighbouring islands in the Pacific Ocean..
As for the rough edges yes there’s a couple like that but we’re fine tuning as we go 🙂
ThanX again for the feedback
Kymmy

October 6, 2010 at 5:22 am #357878Hi Kymmy
Is there a problem with the site? I tried three times to load it, and each time got an error:
“The connection has timed out.
The server at http://www.geoies.com is taking too long to respond.”

October 6, 2010 at 7:32 am #357894No problems at all here….. It is an old server on a home cable connection but still has been working flawlessly for a couple of years.. Only time it does slow down is at 3am (GMT) when the backups kick in but they don’t take too long…

October 6, 2010 at 7:56 am #357902Hi kymmy
No problem this time, site loaded immediately (I was trying at around 04.30 GMT earlier).
Really nice job on the site … I love it!
Nice colour scheme, easy to navigate, clean layout … in fact I couldn’t even find anything to fault :-[
One very small thing, in the four modules at the bottom (user 9, 10,11, 12 positions), the last one (NASA World Wind) seems to have an indent before the start of the text, whereas the other three don’t. Probably just a stray space?
Also, have you tried using part of Bob for the favicon, rather than the very pale blue globe thing?
Well done, a lovely site!

October 6, 2010 at 8:23 am #357905Those pesky little spaces, they get in everywhere.. He’s now been hunted down, tranqualised and moved away from the Nasa WorldWind Module 😀
Thanks for the kind words and ideas.. The favicon is something we have been looking at but once you shrink most stuff down to favicon size it does become unrecognisable.. will though give it another shot as soon as I have time..
As for the lack of response I checked and the backup started at 03:30 (BST (GMT+1) and finished 12 minutes later (backs up to a NAS in the adjoining building (our workshop) so that shouldn’t have been the problem… Apart from either the pesky bots saturating the site or a routing problem I’m not sure what could have been the issue.. (only working on 760Kb upload but hopefully that will soon be upgraded)
Thanks again to you both for the suggestions will get back to you both once more fine tuning is done but in the mean time I’m happy with the site 😎

WOW, found a great little online site that created a favicon for me from a picture of BOB 🙂
Site’s here (I hope it’s OK to post the link but I feel it’s a great tool for site builders)
Also now updated to Kunena 1.6..
Only thing still to do are those four google earth/maps/bing/nasa logo’s at the bottom 🙂

October 21, 2010 at 5:02 pm #359882Hi Kymmy,
Posting external links are fine as long as its not a promotion. Links for tools (as yours) are welcome, it helps other members too.
The favicon looks much better now. Let me know when you update the bottom 4 images. I would like to have a look then.
Regards
Arvind
