I need to get an RSS feed for my current "Featured" articles, but am having a rough time.

I need the feed to send to an app that will show "Latest News" from my webpage.

I created a menu item using the "Featured Stories" menu type, selected the categories I wanted, and it doesn’t seem to pull the right ones … it always brings in the "Uncategorized" stories:

Can you be more specific in what the server problem is?

I use Hostgator and I don’t know where to look for a “problem”

Which mean I got error couldn’t connect to database, 500 error, etc … (sorry I didn’t remember well) but it’s kind of server problem last time I check your site. I can access your site now but couldn’t figure out which menu item did you use to create this page, could you please clarify a little bit so I can check ?

It is in the "Articles" menu, and the name is "Featured Stories For App"

Thanks, that helps me a lots. First, the menu Articles doesn’t visible on page and regarding the url you sent

http://goturpin.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=featured

it will simply output all featured article in all categories. Try to edit menu item Featured Stories For App, move it to Main Menu and go to frontend, click this menu item and you will see it’s different.

Well, that did start pulling the right articles

I have it set up with different categories, but I want it to pull the latest from all the categories; I set it for:

Category order: No order
Article Order: Most recent
Date for ordering: Created

But it seems like it is showing all the swimming and wrestling articles first, even though I have 8 different categories selected, and all of them have newer articles.

Any help with fixing that?

Hi @timpennington,

Please check your server cache / Joomla! setting first, because whatever setting I change here (Category Order / Sort Article by another value, etc …), the page keep refresh with old content in frontend.

Hi @timpennington,

No, it’s not. To mark article as Featured, you will have to set it manually via Article Manager or when create new article.
