March 24, 2009 at 9:40 pm #139540I could have sworn I saw a topic on how to configure your Go Daddy account so you can install the quickstart, but cannot find it anywhere. Can anyone direct me please? I cannot get it uploaded and have been trying all day for Larix quickstart.

I thought it was this one but it isn’t really a tutorial:

Let’s see, maybe I or someone else finds it for you…;) You could ask the member mj1256, he just has a thread for Joomlacache.com in the forum ShareJ! here, he is a real fan of GoDaddy.com and should know what to do when you have to use GD!:D

I have GoDaddy as host and had no problems with Quickstart install. Maybe I can help you. What sort of problems are you having?

March 24, 2009 at 10:41 pm #297759No matter what I do I keep getting the same error message. This account is locked. Please contact Customer Service.
I have called Go Daddy twice and they say everything is fine.
The latest I tried to get the FTP information myself from GoDaddy by logging in to the account and I received the same error message.

March 24, 2009 at 10:52 pm #297767Have you set up an FTP user in your web hosting panel? If not, set up an FTP user. The username and login is different for hosting from your GoDaddy account. It is the username and password you set up when you set up your hosting account. What type of hosting account do you have with them?

March 24, 2009 at 11:56 pm #297786Tried it with the FTP they set up and also with a couple that I set up and same error. And then I tell them and they say it is fine. However, I am not used to Go Daddy so not sure if I am missing something. I will check on the hosting type I have.

ha ha ha ha ha ha, I know you meant that tongue in cheek 😀
even though I did get it all to work, I am not a fan
You have to ftp all of your files, watch when you make the database, your db address WILL NOT be localhost, you have to get the DB address from them

You are correct. When the database is created you need to look at the particulars for your database. I believe it is just the link that says edit but not sure…. I don’t have it open right in front of me.

March 25, 2009 at 12:30 am #297793If all that has to be done then I am going to forget it. It took everything I had just to figure out how to do it the “regular” way.
My other sites are with Site5, should have kept this on there.

Hey… thanks for the plug! Just posted it. I hope it is complete enough to help people (it’s my very first attempt at writing a tutorial). Feel free to add to it if I left anything out. -
