Basically you would have to rewrite the template. It would involve quite some workload. It is possible to do 😉

I am just a member like you and I am fully aware that they are not optimized for SEO as they could have been. Perhaps we should start a “optimizing” club here to add SEO functionality to the templates? I am sure more people than me and vege would be interested?

I think SEO is very important, because most of the user comes from search engines to our websites. I looked at the Search Result für w3markt.de at yahoo and what i dont understand is, why yahoo do not shows my description from meta but something like this: “Skip to content. Skip to main navigation. Skip to 1st column. Skip to 2nd column. w3markt.de …”

You can see at http://de.search.yahoo.com/search?p=w3markt and the live site is http://w3markt.de

I dont know what to change because my meta description is okay or not?

    Greetings from Germany, Holger

Just some quick information. Skip to content, skip to main navigation and so on are information located in the “top” of your index.php file. This is the reason why these are showing, instead of your meta tags. The reason for this is purely because it is programmed to follow a special sequence.

Usually what is placed in the top of the template, ( such as headers, menu navigiation, tools, controlling width and so on ) are showing in the top of the yahoo, google, msn and other search engines.

Yes, the perfect thing would be to rewrite the code so this loads after the meta tags and descriptions, however, I don’t know how to do this myself. But would be very interested in seeing some examples on getting this done. Even willing to pay for it…

I agree, this topic is crucial, and it shouldn’t be that hard to solve.

I hope Joomlart team takes this matter very seriously as search engine optimization is priority number 1 for most webmasters.
